|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|Poverty relief in the country of Armenia:
a) The provision of food parcels (bought
in Armenia) to destitute families with
young children, elderly or disabled
people, with little or no income, and
refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh.
The food parcels are provided on a
regular or on a one-off basis
depending on need. On average,
approximately 120 families per
month were helped during the
current year until September. This
figure increased dramatically to
around 500 parcels per month during
the last three months of the year,
following the invasion and resulting
plight of the refugees from Nagorno-
Karabakh.
b) The provision of medical assistance
including paying for a number of
minor operations for individuals. This
has included assistance to provide
cancer treatment and life-changing
operations (e.g. hip). The charity also
supplied medicines on a regular and
one-off basis.
c) Provision of winter fuel, including
wood and contribution to electric
bills, to some families. In total,
approximately 50 families were
helped in this way during the winter
period.
d) Contributions towards house rent for
a number of families and individuals
living in desperate conditions,
particularly to refugee families.
e) Four 40-foot container loads of
humanitarian aid have been sent
from the UK and distributed in
Armenia – including new and
second-hand clothes, bedding,
shoes, toiletries, toys, mobility
equipment and furniture. The two
containers sent towards the end of
the year were largely in response to
the plight of the refugees from
Nagorno-Karabakh.
f) School bags (with contents) were
provided to underprivileged children
in two villages in Armenia.
Christian training and work among children
and young people in Armenia:
a) Over 400 children attended summer
camps provided by the charity in|

Armenia, held at the charity’s camp facility outside of Yerevan. The children attend the camps free of charge, many of them coming from poor or destitute families. b) The charity continued to produce, print and distribute free of charge Christian books and booklets. Secondly, the charity purchased 5,000 Armenian Bibles and 1,000 Armenian New Testaments for free distribution in Armenia. Thirdly, Armenian ‘Words of Life’ calendars, provided by Trinitarian Bible Society were also distributed.

## **Financial Review**

|Review of the charity’s
financial position at the end
of the period|Para 1.21|The latest financial statements of the charity
are to the 31stDecember 2023. The charity
continues to demonstrate financial
resilience, and its income has grown for the
sixth year running, which by the end of 2023,
was £307k, an increase of 14% compared to
the previous year. The net assets of the
charity at the end of the year also reflected
the increase in income with a rise to £614k,
with cash at bank of £339k. The financial
strength of the charity has meant that it has
not only been able to maintain, but continue
the trend of the last few years, of increasing,
the level of support to Armenia even with
rising costs and the ongoing unfavourable
exchange rate of Pound sterling to the
Armenian Dram.|
|---|---|---|
|Statement explaining the
policy for holding reserves
stating why they are held|Para 1.22|The trustees endeavour to ensure that the
charity has a cash reserve to cover general
running costs and provide financial support,
to those it has committed to help, for a
number of months. A variety of trigger levels
are employed to indicate when the charity’s
finances are approaching the reserve level.
In addition, the charity keeps in reserve an
amount of money to act as a deposit to
purchase warehouse in the UK to process
and store humanitarian aid goods. During
the current year, the trustee looked at
potential properties but nothing suitable was
found.
Given the turbulent world we live in, our
reserves provide the ability to react quickly
with the provision of our services where it is
needed most in ever changing operating
conditions. Given that the current unrest in
Armenia could trigger an increased aid
requirement, the trustees regard it as
important to hold modest levels of reserves
to preserve our responsiveness.|

## CHAIRMAN’S STATEMENT

The financial statements for Armenian Ministries to 31[st] December 2023 demonstrate another year where the charity has increased its support to those in need in Armenia.

We are delighted to report that gifts and donations increased by 14% and we would like to thank all our supporters who continue to enable the work to continue. Such giving enabled us to increase direct aid to Armenia by 37%. Our container shipping costs show a substantial increase in the accounts simply because we sent more containers, which in turn enabled us to provide considerably more relief in the form of clothing and other aid goods.

Consequently, the excess of receipts over payments decreased by 47% to £17,751. The finances of the charity continue to be monitored and managed by the Trustees continuously with diligence and in accordance with the requirements of the Charity Commission.

The assets of the charity grew by 3%, the majority of which represents cash balances. It is important to understand why it is prudent for us to demonstrate robust resilience with the charity’s cash balances. We live in an uncertain world where economic or political events can have catastrophic consequences in a country such as Armenia. As a result, we need to be able to react, sometimes quickly, to provide substantial quantities of aid and be able to react to more regular variables such as exchange rate changes.
