accumulaled depreciation and subsequent accumulated impairrrEnt losses.
An increase in the carrying amunt of an asset as a result of a revaluation, is recognised in other
recognised gains and losses, unless il reverses a charge fof impairment that has previously been
recognised as expenditure wilhin the statement of financial actNilies. A decrease in the carrying
amount of an asset as a result ol revaluation. is recognised in other re¢ognised gain5 and losses,

Impairnient of fixed assets
A review for Ind￿210rS of Impalm￿nt is carried out at each rewrting dale, with the recoverable
amount being esb"maled where such indicators exist. Where the carrying value exceeds the
recoverable amount: the asset is impaired accordingly. PrK)r Impair￿entS are also reviewed for
possible reversal at each reporting dale.
For the purposes ol impairmenl testing. when it is not possible to esh'male the recoverable
amount of an individual asset, an esb.mate is ma(Je of the recoverable amounl Df the
cash-generating unit to which the asset belongs. The c35h-generating unit is the smallest

Financial instruments
A financial asset or 8 financial liability is reecgnised only when the charty becomes a party to the
contr8Ctual provisions of the instnjment.
Basic financial instruments are initially re¢(￿nised at the amount r￿Nable or payable including
any related transaction costs.
Current assets and current liabtlities are subsequenlty rreasured al the cash or other
consideration expected lo be paid or [￿1Ved and not discounted.
Debt instruments are subsequentty measured at anK)rtised cost.
￿￿ere investments in shares are publicly traded or their fair value can otherwise be measured
reliably, the investment is subsequently measured at fair value with changes in fair value
recognised in income ané expenditure. All other such invesbments are subsequently measured at
cost less impairment.
Other financial inslrumenls: including derivatives, are inttrally recognised at frair value, unless
payment for an asset is deferred beyond normal business lerrns or financed at a rale of Interest
that is not a market rate, in which case the asset 15 measured al the present value of Ihe future

Other financial Instruments are subsequenlty measured at fail value. with any changes
recognised in the statement of financial ackn'vities. Trmlh the exception ol hedging instruments in a
designated hedging relationship.
Financial assets that are measured at cost or amortised cost are reviewed for Objective evidence
of impairment al the end of each reporting date. If there is objective evidence of impairment, an
impairment loss is recognised under the appropriate heading in the statement of financial
activities in which the initial gain was recognised.
For all equity instruments regardless of signfftance. and other finan¢i31 assets that are
individually signif cant, these are assessed indwidualty for impairment. Other financial assets are
ather assessed individually or grouped on Ihe basis of similar credit risk Characteristics
