## **TRUSTEES' REPORT**
The trustees present their report and accounts for the year ended 31 July 2023
All policies adopted by the charity are entirely in furtherance of the objects as stated below.
## **1 Organisational Structure**
Chairman: Helen McAndrew
Treasurer: Alan Ryan
There are no specific restrictions imposed by the governing document concerning the way the charity can operate.
There are no specific investment powers.
## **2 Review of activities**
KISS continues to work with vulnerable children and their families in Uganda with the provision of both formal and vocational education and other supportive activities including healthcare. Key activities include funding of education and education support, healthcare to enable access to education and family support.
The success of our agricultural project which has meant that we were able to transition ownership to the local community under the KiSS Kasambya Coffee Farmers Cooperative. In addition, we support social networks that help and nurture the children and their families such as weekly pastoral meetings, sports and homework group. We continue to build our network relationships with other charities working in Uganda both to directly support the children and families we support but also to ensure that our local teams have the necessary skills to continue the aim of KISS in enabling children to lead an independent life through the benefits of education.
Trustee visits to Uganda at the end of 2023 were postponed due to Ebola and rescheduled for November 2023. Discussions took place to welcome the new Head teacher of the Saint John Henry Newman School (our key sponsor organization) and the relationship with KiSS remains strong. Post covid with the cost of living crisis continue to have a negative impact on fundraising however plans are underway to reestablish trips to Uganda and develop new fund raising activities.

The charity had net loss for the year of £7,928 (2022: net Income of £13,961).

**INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF KISS - KIDDIES SUPPORT SCHEME**
I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 July 2023, which are set out on pages 4 to 7.
## **Respective responsibilites of trustees and examiner**
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
- (i) examine the accounts of the 2011 Act.jnts under section 145
- (ii) follow the procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and
- (iii) state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## **Basis of independent examiner's report**
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a "true and fair" view and the report is limited to to those matters set out in the statement below.
## **Independent examiner's statement**
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
- (a) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
- (i) to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act: and
- (ii) to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act have not been met: or
- (b) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
