The Rotary Doctor Bank of Great Britain and Ireland was formed in 1994 and is affiliated to Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland.
The aim of the organisation is:

To support healthcare in developing countries, by funding volunteer healthcare professionals to work in hospitals and to provide training in modern techniques to local healthcare professionals.

Funding and carrying out the refurbishment of Mission Hospitals and supplying modern equipment to these hospitals.

Sponsoring orphans from the Ruhija region of Uganda to attend a secondary school, as secondary schooling is not free in Uganda.
Donations to the Doctor Bank come from Rotary Clubs, other organisations connected to Rotary (Probus Clubs, Inner Wheel Clubs etc.), Church Groups and individuals. Members of the Rotary Doctor Bank Committee and volunteer health professionals are available to give talks on the work of the Doctor Bank.
All the work of the Rotary Doctor Bank is done by volunteers, other than the reimbursement of out-ofpocket expenses, no-one connected with The Doctor Bank receives any payment.
The following projects were supported during the period 1[st] July 2023 to 30[th] June 2024.
With the assistance of grants from the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International we started a refurbishment of the buildings at Kyengera Womens’ Hospital, Kampala, Uganda. We also provided medical equipment for 2 operating theatres at the hospital.
We supported a team of midwives to visit Freda Carr Hospital, Ngora, Uganda, to provide training to midwives at the hospital and other health facilities in the surrounding areas.
We supported a team of ophthalmic surgeons to visit Ghana to carry out paediatric eye surgery and to demonstrate new techniques to the resident healthcare professionals.
We have sponsored a group of orphans from the Ruhija region of South West Uganda to attend secondary school.
