AGM 2022
G.S.L.'s Report
What a brilliant year we have had- well done to all
our young people in joining back in with face to face
activities. As you will read in our Seth'on Reports:
Leaders, Explorers. Scouts. Cubs and Beavers have all
enjoyed some amazing experiences and challenges
over the past twelve months and we are all looking
forward to 2023.
My particular highlight was finally returning to the Is
of Wight for our long-awaited summer camp at the
Corf carnp5ite- the weather was brilliant and 50me
wonderful memories made- well done to all the adults
and young people Ifoi many it was their first full week
of camping away from homel for helping to build them.
Particular thanks to Stephanie for organising and
cooking most of our meals- with help from Zachary-
we have decided that personal chets are a must for
future camps @. We know that our younger leaders
faced a diff cult time taking the power boats back
home- so a big thank you to them for taking on that
challenge and for getting home safely.
Looking forward we now face the thallenge of team
changes. Our Cub team, Richard and rim (Akela and
Shere Khan) are stepping down from their roles with
the pack at half-term and we are faced with big shoes
to fill. Richard has run the pack for many years. with
Tim joining him for the past decade- we know that
lots of young people have enjoyed their experience as
Cub Scouts because of them.. THANK YOU- YOU
WILL BE MISSED. They are not leawng the group. and I was trwng to keep my report short this year. failing
yosj will See that they 3Te rnnning a weekend camp
as usual. but my final request is that if you think you
shordy to share their Scouting sknlls with other leaders
might be interested in helping our TEAM to continue to
let us know rf you would like to join in the fun.
offer Scouting to our chiklren- please do try IL it IS
We are also Sad that our deputy treasurer. Mandie. is
rewarding and you will enjoy it
moving "up north": over her many years wrth the
group (Compass tells me since 20051 she has helped
to obtain grants of over £80 000- a huge sum-

v4hich has paid for boats. the natu￿ area,
soundproofing the hut. Sheds at Spinnaker and trailers.
We wish Mandie and her family all the best with thelr
move and thank her for the amazing contribution to
the group. enabling us to be successful well-equipped
Sea Scouts.
