The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in the notes in the balance sheet and comply with the charitable company's Memorandum and Articles of Association, the Companies Act 2006 and the Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard Practice applicable in the UK (FRS 102) effective January 2015
Objective and activities
The objects of the charity are to promote public education in, and appreciation of, the arts and science of music; particularly but not exclusively for events within the parish of Mayfield; together with the organisation and running of the biennial classical music festival in Mayfield known as 'Mayfield Festival of Music and the Arts'.
The trustees have paid due regard to Public Benefit guidance issues by the Charity Commmission in deciding what activites the charity should undertake.

Achivements and Performance
Mayfield Festival of Music and the Arts takes place in 'even years'. The Festival was held in April/May 2024
Financial Review
Reserves increased by £7,304 to £35,367. The reserves are considered satisfactory. It is the aim of the trustees to maintain the unrestricted reserves at £35,000 which will ensure that, in the event of a significant drop in funding, they will be able to continue the charity's current activities while considering ways either to reflect and act on changes in Mayfield's artistic demands or in which additional funds may be raised.
The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charity is exposed, and are satisfied that systems are in place to mitigate exposure to the major risks.
None of the trustees has any beneficial interest in the company. All of the trustees are members of the company and guarantee to contribute £1 in the event of a winding up.
Structure, governance and management
The charity is run by the Board of Trustees who give their time and expertise voluntarily and receive no benefits from the charity. The Board of Trustees is involved with the strategic, financial and governance issues as well as the day-to-day planning of the Festival, which is undertaken in conjunction with the Festival's Artistic Director, Jeremy Summerly.
Trustees are required to retire by rotation at each Annual General Meeting but can stand for reappointment if their vacancy is not filled. There is no maximum period for which a trustee can serve.

The assets are considered sufficient to meet the charity's obligations

My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity
Independent examiner's statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements:
(i) to keep accounting records in accordance with section 386 of the Companies Act 2006; and
(ii) to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records, comply with the accounting requirements of section 396 of the Companies Act 2006 and with the methods and principles of the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities; have not been met; or to which in my opinion attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
