Good evening and welcome to our AGM.
I can report that we have had a very successful year with a lot of activity and
progress. This time last year we alerted the parish to the fact that we needed
a new roof on the hall. This was approved by the trustees subject to gettin8
sufficient grants and donations. My thanks go to William Graham (treasurer)
and Jeremy Broad (maintenance) for their work in researching and securing
grants for the work, to the tune of £34K. The work was approved, tasked and
completed within budget during the month of March this year.
At the same time it was agreed that we would try to raise money from the
community through donations and sponsoring a tile (413 were sponsored).
We decided to hold a monthly fund raising event throughout the year {in lieu
of an annual fete) and this proved to be financially successful and beneficial to
a wide ran8e of people in the village, raising on average of £200 for each event.
The events were: wine tsstin& an escape room. a quiz, a plant sale, a flower
show, a concert. a table top sale, a dog show and a photographic competition.
Each event appealed to different people 50 we hope that we reached out to as
many people as possible in the villages.
These events have accrued additional funds and so it was decided to invest in
solar panels on the new roof with a battery in the hall to store the electricity
made during the day. The result of this is that we have not had to pay for any
electricity all summer. Thanks go to William for negotiating the deal whereby
electricity is sold to the grid at day time rates and bought back at night time
rates.
Our normal bookings resumed in April and we have weekly table tennis and
pilates, fortnightly community coffee and crafL monthly film club, every two
months plant drawing. Wylye Valley Writers and Acoustic café, every 34
months parish council meetings. several live music events and annual
elections. In between times the hall is available for hire for parties. post
funeral teas and general meetings. The income from these bookings pays for
the normal running of the hall- the cost of oil, water. cleaning and general
maintenance.

At the beginning of the year we allocated fund5 raised at the 2024 Fun day to
the cricket club, the children's play area, cricket training and the hall roof.
There is now ongoing discu55ion following a fire inspection of the hall about
upgrading various aspects in order to be compliant with the most recent fire
regulations. We will apply for a grant to install additional bulk head lights over
fire exits and smoke retardant door and shutters to the kitchen. There is also
discussion about disabled access but we are hampered by the location of the
hall and the lack of outside space to make a significant difference to the
present facilities.
I would like to extend my thanks to all the Trustees who work tirelessly
ensuring that events run smoothly. Everyone is happy to stand again except
for Owen Jenkins who, due to work commitments, is standing down. We are
grateful for all he has done and for his expert advice on building matters. We
are always looking for new volunteers to join our team.
I will now hand over to William Graham. our treasurer who will give you an
update on the accounts.
