The Trustees have pleasure in presenting their report for the year ended 30[th] June 2024.
Principal Address: West Surrey Golf Club, Enton Green, Godalming, Surrey, GU8 5AF
The Trustees who served during the period were:

Pursuant to a Resolution approved by the Club on 13[th] December 1999, the Charity was formed on 25[th] February 2000 and was registered with the Charity Commission as a registered holder of Trust Funds, by reference to a Deed of Trust dated 27[th] January 2000, in the form adopted by Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland. The objects of this Charity are the relief of the poor and needy locally, nationally and internationally. The Trustees are appointed in accordance with the Trust Deed and include (unless the members of the Rotary Club of Godalming Woolsack decide otherwise) the President, Secretary and Treasurer. All Trustees must be members of the Club. All Trustees give of their time freely and no remuneration or expenses were paid in the year.
The Charity’s Trustees have kept in mind the Charity Commission’s public benefit guidance when exercising any powers or duties to which the guidance is relevant. The Charity did not experience any serious incidents or other matters that should have been brought to the attention of the Charity Commission.
Funds raised
Fund raising activities
The Charity’s funds are normally sourced from a series of fund-raising activities undertaken during the course of the year. We delivered a Golf Day, Spring Fair and Duck Race. The club also embarked on a fund-raising campaign to support the cancer centre at The Royal Surrey Hospital by creating the Cut Out Cancer campaign. We also supported the Godalming Youth Centre - Garden project and a Young Citizen Award programme.
Overall
Total funds raised and donations received amounted to £82,829 (2022/23 £40,708). Of this amount, £24,482 (2022/23 £31,606) was distributed in accordance with the Charity’s objects. Local charities and needy causes received £19,513(80%) ((2022/23 £15,718 (50%)), National Charities, £1,425 (6%) (2022/23 £5,200 (16%)) and Internationally Charities £3,544/ (14%) (2022/23 £10,688 (34%)).

Independent Examiner’s Report to the Trustees of the Rotary Club of Godalming Woolsack
Charity Trust Fund Registered No. 1079545
I report on the accounts for the Rotary Club of Godalming Woolsack Charity Trust Fund for the year ended 30[th] June 2024 as set out on pages 4 to 8.
Respective responsibilities of the trustees and the examiner
The Charity’s Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The Charity’s Trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under Section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Act) and that an independent examination is required under Section 145 of the Act. It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under Section 145 of the Act,
-
follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under Section 145 (5)(b) of the Act), and
-
state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s report
My examination was carried out in accordance with General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a “true and fair” view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner’s statement
In the course of my examination, no matter has come to my attention
-
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with Section 130 of the Act: and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act; have not been met: or
-
to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
