THE SPEAKER'S TRUST CHARITY REGISTRATION NUMBER 1079150 ACCOUNTS AND TRUSTEE REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30" Se tember 2023 INTRODUCTION 1.1 The Speaker's Trust (fomerty the Mayorfs Trust) was established by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets on 26th January 2000. 1.2 The objective of the trust fund is to provide benefit to the inhabitants of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. 1.3 The trust has charitable status and is registered with the Charity Commission. (Registration No. 1079150). TRUSTEES 2.1 The current trustees are as set out bebw- The Speaker of the Council (Cllr Sarf Uddin Khaled) The Deputy Speaker of the Council (Cllr Suluk Ahmed) ACTIVITIES FOR THE YEAR 3.1 Donations were reiVed as a result of fund raising activities carried out during the year. These activities included a charity dinner, an auctionlraffle and appeals made by the Speaker of the Council to local businesses. 3.2 Unlike in previous years where funds were shared amongst three or four charities this year the Trust decide to make one donation of £ 19,000 to The Tower Project (an award winning charity enabling and empowering people with disabilities across East London).
FINANCIAL REPORT 4.1 The trust had a balance brought forward from 2021122 of £ 4,517-66 {£ 4,681,39 in 2020121). Additional net funds (after fundraising expenses) were generated during the year totalling £ 20,001-01 Meaning that total funds available to spend on donations and other fundraising activittes was 24,518-67. 4.2 Of the above sum a donation of £ 19,000-00 is to be made leaving a balan carried forward into 2023124 of £ 5,518-67. 4.3 The financial accounts are as sel out in Appendix 1.
