THE SPEAKER'S TRUST CHARITY REGISTRATION NUMBER 1079150 ACCOUNTS AND TRUSTEE REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30" Se tember 2020 INTRODUCTION 1.1 The Speaker's Trust (formerly the Mayor's Trust) was established by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets on 26th January 2000. 1.2 The objective of the trust fund is to provide benefit to the inhabttants of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. 1.3 The trust has charttable status and is registered with the Charity Commission. (Registration No. 1079150). TRUSTEE 2.1 The current trustees are as set out below: The Head of Paid Service (Mr Will Tuckley) The Speaker of the Council (Cllr Ayas Miah) The Deputy Speaker of the CouCi1clIf Victoria Obaze), ACTIVITIES FOR THE YEAR 3.1 Donations were reiVed as a resuEt of fund raising activities carried out during the year. These activities included a charity dinner, a charity ball, a boat trip, an afternoon lea and appeals made by the Speaker of the Council to looal businesses. 3.2 The funds are to be distributed to The Alzheimerfs Society, the BPCA (a voluntary organisalion working with people with multiple disabilities} and Providen Row Charity (supporting people affected by homelessness).
FINANCIAL REPORT 4.1 The trust had a balance brought forward from 2018119 of £ 4,042-57. Additional net funds (after fundraising expenses) were generated during the year totalling £ 16,412-82 meaning that total funds available lo spend on donations and other fundraising activities was 20,455-39. 4.2 Of the above sum donations of£ 16,725-00 are to be made leaving a balance carried fotward into 2020121 of £ 3,730-39. 4.3 The financial accounts are as set out in Appendix 1.
