Achievements and performance in 2024 Summary of the main achievements of the branch during the year Chair Report This past year has been one of refie10n and growth. Sadly we have had to say goodbye to several cherished members of our RAFA family but also had the pleasure of y1¢OMIng new faces to the Branth. Investments have perfomed eXptionallY well and Wings appeal continues to sutpass expectats'ons thanks to the work of June Sefton, wings sec. The commitment to young aviators has ntinued, now supporting seven Air Cadet squadrons with financing the running of squadron vehicles, helping with sports kit, supply of flight simulation equipment and supports'ng vistts to EuroFe in the run up to VE and VJ day. RAFA Formby Branch has personalised their relationship by presenting awards for achievements of Cadets ie best cajet. There is also a sponsotship of a floral Roundel dedicated to RAFA Fornby Branch all these helping hands are on going and achieve their goal in promoting RAFA and future membets of the RAF. In addttion there has been SUprt for RAFA Rothbury House and the RAF Benevolent Fund The support also e>Xends to Merseywng Air Cadets HQ at RAF Woodvale and support to CCF FIAF sections schcM)I based. Members of the committee actively attend the civilian committees of Crosby and soUthrt Air Cadets. RAFA Formby Branch V11 commemorate the 80 anniversary of VE and VJ days alongside the other semces. These historic milestones provide a poignant ortunil lo reflect on the brave and sacrrfice of those who served Treasurer Report The Treasure reported on Investments achiewing their optimum Interest and balanang the annual account as attached. The Treasure reinforced the Annual statement of reserve policy from guidance published by the Charty Commission and FiAFA finance. The truslees have agreed to Continue lo keep an average of estimated 2 years expenditure1£20k to £25k) as a reserve in general funds. It is the trustees expectats'on unless unforeseen circumstan$ occur that the chartty income which arises almost entirely from investments is likèly to exceed this level by year end. In such event rt is the trustees intention that all excess funds will be reinvested for the future benefrt of the charity.

Formby Branch members assist at the famus SoLrthport Air Show. Later in the year there is a branch gathering before Christmas. In the Southport there are several gathering points for Veterans re. The RBL Hub open daily Saturday breakfast dub and a Veterans gathering Monthly. SouthFOrt Amed Forces Day was a joint commitment with SSAFA and FIAFA for the past few years but has now been taken over by RBL and Lal Council Commemoration Report (please insert details of the Branch Commemoration eVenIactIv1eS (Remembrance. Standard Beare Attendance at Funerals etc ) We have lost a number of VVW11 Veterans dunng Ihe year one Frederick Hofn was aged 102 The branch has partia'pated in most of the funerals and provided Standard Bearer support along wrth RBL when required. Trevor Wilkins RAFA member was the most recent and his widow Susan h is now a member of the branch.
