Dear Trustees,
PEMBROKESHIRE VOLUNTARY TRANSPORT : 1078690
The Charity Commission has recently been made aware that there may be a dispute, in the above named charity. Please ensure that a copy of this correspondence is circulated to all the trustees.
Whilst disputes within charities are relatively rare, when they occur they can be extremely damaging to the charity and its reputation, as well as placing its assets and beneficiaries at risk. In all cases we expect people to put their personal differences aside and aim to work solely in the best interests of the charity.
It is the trustees’ responsibility to resolve disputes. The Charity Commission can only get involved in exceptional circumstances. This is when we have evidence that all other available methods of resolving the dispute have been attempted and have failed. Should we receive further information that this is the case, we may write to you again to seek assurances.
We require the trustees to consider the following guidance: Disagreements and Disputes in Charities - CC3 The essential trustee - - 5 minute guides for charity trustees GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
You do not need to reply to this letter, it has been sent under section 15(2) of the Charities Act 2011 to provide you with information and advice to manage potential risks in your charity.
All information, including this letter, has been saved to the charity’s records.
