Organlsatlon and management The Charity is governed by the members of the association who determine strategic direction and policy. The day trj day running of the Charity is carried out by the Management Committee. Alms and objects The Charity's obje(#ives are set out in its goveming document and are surmised as bek>w. a) to further the religious and other charitabte work of Sikhism b) to hold land and buildings upon trust to pemiit them to be used as a place of worship and meeting house c) to provide suitable accommodation and an environment in which to encourage the study of Sikhism and to promote public interest and recognition of the Sikh F<eligion in the local and su￿Ound]ng area. The Sikh ethos The ethos of Sikh Gurdwara is centred on recognition of the complele equality of all human beings, including the full equality of women, and a total commitrnent to a lrfe of service to God through service to His Creation. This in turn, requires Sikh to work for personal s81f- improvement, while at the same tj'me striving for social justice for all people. In the closing words of our Ardas.'SarbatkabhalS3' (the wellthing of all}. It is therefore important that the ethos of our Gurdwara is reflective and supportive of what it means to be a Sikh. While our religion respects the int8grity and equality of all people, and respecÉs and supports the right of freedom of worship, the path of Sikhism has its own discipline and commitment. which wuiffjs a distinctive Sikh ethos in our Gurdwara. An important part of our faith is 'SEWA' an act of 'Semess Service, towards others; this takes the fomi of various initiatives and activities either as an individual or collectively with ￿ community. Gurdwara actlvltles The Gurdwara is open to public seven days a week for daity & evening servi￿$ with the main activities taking place on Sunday. Five key festivals are celebrated periodically throughout the year. Members of all communities are encouraged to leam more about Sikhism and part￿Ipate in activities as appropriate. The Gurdwara facilrtates Birth. MarrFage and funeral services in accordance to both UK civil law and Sikh Rehat Maryada (code of Sikh conduct). Community activltles The Gurdwara supports the community in facilitating specific activities for the Women. Youth and general activities for the Sikh community with extemal partners. The Gurdwara facilitates public visits from Schools. Teachers, Police, MP'S, NHS and other service providing agencies l organisations and residents. The Gurdwara also supports a number of seminars conferen￿$ facilitated by the Police. NHS, Local Authority departments and other service providing agencies l organisations. The Gurdwara also founded the Doncaster Punjabi Education Board which is 8 charitsble organisation in its own right to develop the language and culture of the Punjab. Volunteers The Gurdwara Is led by communrty volunteers from trustees. management committee members to kitchen support staff 8nd is an important resource for the all the Gurdwara's farth and communrty work. Prlncipal funding sourc• The Gurdwara's main source of income is donations. Despite the economic climate it is encouraging to see the generosity of the community. Page 2

The core part of our strategy is community welfare and education, the Gurdwara forms the hub of working with external partners, statutory Servi￿ providers and other communities to work towards community integration and cohesion by inviting statutory servi￿ providers to facilitate seminars and raise awareness of services available to the Sikh community. Reserrfes pollcy The Charity aims to keep sufficient funds as free reserves to cover 6 months overheads. At the present tirne, this has not been possible because of the money spent on the Community Centre but the Trustees intend to btsild the reseNes up again lo previous levels. Statement of trustees. responsibllities Charity law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a Irue and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity at the year end and of its incoming resources and resources expended during that year. In preparing those financial statements. the trustees are required to: select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently; observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP; make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; state whether applicable accounting standards statements of recommended practice have been followed subject to any departures disdosed and explained in the financial statements", and prepare the financial statements on the going concem basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charrty will continue in busin8SS. The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charily and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the tharty and hence lor taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. Independent examiners report to the trustees of Sri Guru Kalgidhar Gurdwara Doncaster for the year ended 30th September 2024 I report on the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 30th September 2024 which are Set out on pages 5 to 7. Respectlve responsiblllties of trustees and exarnlner As Ihe charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (Ihe Acf). The charity's trustees consider that an audtt is not required for this year under section 144 of the Act and that an independent examination is needed. I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under saction 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable directs'ons given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b} of th8 Act. Basis of Independent examinerfs report My examInat￿n was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accountiry records kept by the Charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes ￿nSIderatiOn of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not proV￿e all the evKlence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as lo whether the accounts present a 'true and faiff view and the report is limited to those matters set OUÉ in the statement below. Sri Guru Kalgidhar Gurdwara Doncaster Notes to the flnancial statements for the year ended 30th September 2024 Accounting policies Basis of preparation These financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost basis and in accordance with the Charities Act 2011 and related Regulations. the Statement of Recommended Practi￿ 'AcGounting and Reporting by Charities" issued in January 2015 and applicable accounting standards. As the charity's level of income is below £250,000 the management committee has opted for the accounts to be prepared in a receipts and payment basis except in respect of payments for fixed assets and Capital grants. This is in accordan￿ with the Charity Commission guiddines for small chartties and is seen as more appropriate for this project. Fund accounting Incoming resources Éhat may be applied for the charities general purposes are treated as unrestricted incoming resources and are credited to the unrestricted fund. Where a donation or grant is required to be used for a spectfic purpose, the amount concemed is treated as restricted income and is credited to the appropriate restricted fund. 1.3 Tanglble fixed assets The freehold Gurdwara building and Communty Centre are stated at cost plus capitalised additions. No depfeciation is provided as the trustees consider that this remains a fair refkctÉon of current value. Trustees remuneratlon. benefits and expenses There were no trustees, remuneration or other beneffts for the year ended 31Xh September 2024 nor for the year ended 30th September 2023.
