wlth the communlty and local schools. Thls allows Acoms to ensu￿ that the transition from pre-
school to primary sclb)ol is a smooth arKI worry-free event.
The ethos at Acorns is that all children are cared for In a Secu￿ fun and frtendty environment whllst
en8agin8 In learnln8 through play.
Acorns ensures that all children move from the Pre Sthool to prlmary school with a se¢ure
foundatlon In the 13 core area5 of learnlnB as outlined in the EYFS strategy.

required to plan activtties and experiences that help thildren make progress in their learning and
development pathways.

In this academ1¢ year. Acoms has continued to offer pre-school educatfon to all thildren of a pre-
school age.
The academic year started ext￿rne￿ well, with èll chIld￿n settling quickly. The abillty to offer a
variety of athities to enhance chIld￿n,5 independence and Confiden￿ was planned for the year
ahead.
Staffin8 ￿m3[ne￿ stable.
Fundralsin8 has been limited. with the pandemic well behind us. Acorns will look to commence a
full fundraisin8 progrdmme.

The Increase of funded hours from 15 hours 10 30 IK)urs for many, has meanl a marked Increase In
fvndlng from the Local Authorlty of 225%: with a 50% decrease in those children who are self-
funding. Uptake of places at Acorns has increased income by 165%, mainly due to the additlonal
funded hours available.

Treasurers Re
Income in the year has increased by £18,660 to £46,758. which can be atlributed to the Increase In
additional ￿UrS fallin8 under the government funded childcare hours scheme. There were no
outstanding debtors at the end of the academic year. The trustees are committed to further
Increasln8 the uptake of placements for the following year.
Staffing ￿MaIned conslstent, with stsff Increaslng houts in Ilne wrth the 1Th￿a$e in uptake and
government 8uidellnes of ratios of stsff to children.
Rent for the hall Increased to £4.20 per hour from £4.10 per hour. costs remalned con515tent.
The pre-school contlnued to bank with Lloyds Bank operating only one currerrt account and a small
petty cash, which is ra￿ty utlllsed as staff are relmbursed electronKally, ensuring that all money is
accounted for correctly.
After all expense5, the prfrschool accounts show a surplus for the year of É15.615. There has been
an increase in uptake of hours. The trustee5 remain committed to promotfjn8 the pre-school through
tar8eted marketln8 and sodal medla.

Trust for the year ended 31 August 2023, whtch are set out on pages 01 to 07. The charitys trustees
are responslble for the preparation of the accounts. The charStVs trustees conslder that an audlt Is
not required for this year under seth.on 144121 of the Charities Act 2011 Ithe 2011 Act) and that an
Independent examination is needed.
