THE THOMAS BALL CHILDREN'S CANCER FUND ANNUAL REPORT 2023- 2024 The fund is a registered charity under reference number 1078140. The principal address of the charity is 18, Sixty Acres Road. The objects of the charity are: The relief of sickness and distres5 among children suffering from cancer and members of their families.. The promotion of researth into the causes and treatment of cancer, and in particular fornjs of cancer which afflict children. The preservation and protection of public health by the pmvision of infonnation about the early diagnosis of cancer in children to general practitioners. Bankers The Charity has accounts with the Skipton Building Society and Barclays Bank Plc. Grants are also mad¢ to help with th¢ cost of respite holidays and to help relive hardship. During the year 49 such grants were made. The trustees confirm that they have referred io the guidance contained in the Charity Cotnmission's general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the Trust's aims and objectives and in planning future activities. The charity had a successful year in tem]s of fundrdising. The charity continues to receive the sUPPOrt of many ompanies, organisations and individuals who have assisted the charity by making dirert donations, by sponsored events and by altending ihe various fundrdising events organised by the charity during the year. The trustees would like to express their appreciation for this support. The trustees would like to pay particular thanks to the trustees of SC Chiltern Ltd who operate the"Sweet Charity" shop in Pre5tsvood, Bucks for making a direct contribution of £8988.86p to Holburne Naish in respect of the annual rental of the lodge used by the Thomas Ball charity to achieve its objectives . Independent examiner's report to the trustees of The Thomas Ball Children's Cancer Fund si I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31 July 2024 which are set out on page l. Respective responsibilities of trnstees and examiner The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144{2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 201 l Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to: examine the accounts under section 145 of the 201 l Act to follow the procedures laid down in the general Dircctions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act to state whether particular matters have come to my attention Basis of iDdependeDt examiner's report My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given bv the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of anv unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair view. and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. Independent examiner's statement In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention: { l ) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; and to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting ordS and comply with the accounting requirements of the Charities Act have not been met; or (2) to which, in my opinion. attention should be drawn in Order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
