ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
The past year has seen a number of changes for Newton Farm Community Centre (NFCA). We employed a volunteer co-ordination to oversee and support volunteers. We have found this role invaluable for the community.
Our volunteers have worked hard with their range of ideas, creativity, kindness and fun to keep the Association running and to ensure the services we provide are maintained.
The Community provides quality goods at affordable prices. All goods are donated, and the shop itself is run on a voluntary basis, supported by a shop supervisor and the Volunteer Coordinator. Always a friendly atmosphere welcoming customer to obtain affordable second-hand goods with a steady increase in takings.
The Community Hub offering various activities for the local community and volunteers. This continues to grow in strength with some days seeing a 50%+increase in numbers using the hub. We have increased the services, activities and have taken users on local cinema and music sessions.
The Board of Trustees have met for the required number of times as set out in our Constitution. Again, the Trustees have provided guidance and support throughout the year for the staff, volunteers and community, ensuring that the Association meets and fulfils its’ legal obligations.
RESERVES POLICY
The Association holds a reserve account in order to mitigate the risk of the charity closing down; the reserves contain the amount of money required to ensure that no debt would be left as a result of this.

The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Annual Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and regulations.
In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to:
-
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;
-
observe the methods and principles in the charities SORP;
-
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
-
state whether applicable UK Accounting Standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements,

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT TO THE TRUSTEES OF NEWTON FARM COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
I report on the accounts of the Trust for the year ended 31[st] March 2025 which are set out on pages 4 to 7.
Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
-
to follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and
-
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner’s report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and the seeking of explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
Independent examiner’s statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements:
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act
have not been met;
or
to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
