Dear Brothers and sisters in Islam,

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu

With the grace of Almighty Allah and His infinite mercy, we are pleased to present the 40[th] Annual Report of Masjid-e-Noor & Madressah Anwarul Islam for the year ending 31st October 2024. May Allah (SWT) accept our efforts and make them a means of salvation for us. We express our gratitude to Allah (SWT) for His continued help and mercy, as well as for all the blessings He has bestowed upon us over the past twelve months.

By the grace of Allah (SWT), we successfully replaced all our windows and external fire doors. Through your generous donations and support during Ramadan, we were able to collect more than £60,000 (Windows & Door Project & Ramadhan Lillah). This tremendous support allowed us to take on the next phase of our efforts: spray paint full conservatory, plastering, painting of the whole of Masjid & Madressah, currently undergoing replacing of all internal doors throughout the Masjid and Madressah. Following a recent Fire Safety Risk Assessment, we are undertaking replacing some safety elements across the Masjid & Madressah.

While this project came with its challenges, Alhamdulillah, the committee and community members united to overcome them. Your collective contributions, whether through donations, assisting with door-to-door collections, or preparing and selling food outside One Nation, were invaluable to this achievement.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to every individual—both members and nonmembers—who supported this project. A special thanks to One Nation for allowing us to sell food outside their premises to raise funds. We deeply appreciate the families, friends, and community members who promoted our project across all social media platforms, as well as the businesses that supported us by keeping our costs low. May Allah (SWT) bless you and your families in this world and the hereafter, Ameen.

This accomplishment would not have been possible without your unwavering help and dedication. However, as with any project, we encountered some unexpected costs and made a few mistakes. We kindly ask for your forgiveness for any shortcomings and humbly request your continued support for future initiatives.

Membership Fees:

I am pleased to report that we received membership fees from 255 members this year, along with an additional four fees submitted after the accounts were closed on 31st October 2024. May Allah (SWT) reward you all abundantly for your generous contributions towards the running costs of our Masjid and Madressah. Ameen.

As a reminder, all membership fees and Lillah donations are dedicated to covering the operational expenses of the Masjid and Madressah. With the rising costs of gas, electricity, minimum wage, and the overall cost of living in recent years, your continued support through Lillah donations is vital in ensuring the smooth running of these essential facilities.

We request anyone who wishes to continue with their membership and has not yet paid their fee’s, to do so at the earliest opportunity. Forms are available from our office or speak to Br Zubair Badat. Those brothers who have paid after 31[st] October 2024 will be included in the following years annual report.

Membership fee’s and Lillah donations can be paid in the following ways,

Ishlahi Programmes

Below are the events which are being held in our Masjid:

To organize and hold these events takes up a lot of time from volunteers so we urge anyone who would like to support these events to come forward and show your support. We also urge everyone to get involved, which also means to attend these events and to share this with your children, families and friends. More information can be found on our noticeboard.

Condolences

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ebrahim Bhai Bham of Woodsome Estate Batley who sadly passed away this year and returned to his creator. Ebrahim Bhai Bham was highly respected in our community, and we cannot forget the efforts he and others in the committee at the time of changing how our Masjid & Madressah looks today. Those who don’t know, our Masjid was a detached property with an outhouse building with a large garden. Ebrahim Bhai Bham was chairman at the time and was instrumental in shaping the structure of our Masjid & Madressah. We would like to take this opportunity and pray to Allah (SWT) he grants him the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous and give his family barakat in this life and the hereafter Ameen. A lot of sacrifices and hard work were given by several individuals, many of whom have returned to their creator. We would like to take this opportunity and pray Allah (SWT) rewards their families with all the sacrifices and commitments they made for our Masjid & Madressah.

Appreciation

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Muazzin’s who have performed their duties above and beyond their responsibilities. May Allah (SWT) reward their efforts in this life and in the hereafter, Ameen.

This year following a review of our current Imam’s, our committee decided after hearing from all the members we need a 3[rd] Imam who is able to work with the youth of our community. We are pleased and thankful for Mol Shuaib Lunat who agreed to join our Masjid as an Imam and teacher for our Madressah. Mol Shuaib is a graduate from Shaykhul- Hadith, Hadrat Mawlana Muahammad Saleem Dhorat’s Islamic Da’wah Accademy.

We also would like to thank Qari Hanif Sahib & Mowlana Kamal Sahib for performing their Imam duties exceptionally throughout the year. We all pray Allah (SWT) gives them all good health and makes us benefit from their teachings and guides us to the right path in Islam.

As part of our Masjid & Madressah it is our duty to protect our community with all kinds of outside influences, so therefore we would like to thank Mawlana Mohammed Seedat & Hafiz Sajid Daya who in their own time organises a number of programmes which benefits the community.

We are very fortunate to have a number of people and volunteers who support our Masjid and Madressah in our day-to-day activities. Please continue to support our events, fundraising which will support the running of our Masjid & Madressah and help you gain the rewards in this word and the hereafter.

In Closing We as a Management Committee would like to thank all members and volunteers in supporting our Masjid & Madressah throughout the year, All the efforts we all make is to please Allah (SWT). We ask for forgiveness and understanding for any errors we may have made and thank you all for your ongoing support. There is still much work to be carried out, so we ask you to kindly continue to support us through, financially and your advice. May Allah reward everyone for being part of this Masjid & Madressah in this world and the hereafter Ameen. We end this report by urging everyone to attend the Annual General Meeting with your suggestions to help us further our work.

I declare, in my capacity of charity trustee, that the trustees have approved the above report and that they have authorized me to sign it on their behalf.

Wassalaam. The Management Committee

Madrasah Annual Report 2024 ~~..~~

Currently the Madrasah have approx. 170 children attending and to maximize the class and space we have the average of 18 children in a class and use every space possible including the kitchen. We have a total of 15 Ustaads, which includes:

New Class A2B

This year we have introduced a boys leavers class, with the aim of keeping the students in Madrasah with less commitment. They attend once a week for 1 hour and join the A1B class. Our An Nasihah Curriculum have introduced a new book (Further studies) which we now teach in this class. 100% of the children who were to leave enrolled into the new class. We also have a specialised support class for students who need extra support e.g. SEN Support.

Ibeams

This academic year we are advancing our reliance on ibeams. We have transferred approximately 80% of fees to the new system and we are introducing motivational features, such as a merit and house point systems, to our madrasah in the hope of increasing student performance. We are also introducing admin processes with the system to make general tasks more efficient. Also parents can leave a feedback every time a homework is sent out.

Personal Development of students

Attendance, Behaviour and Attitudes

Our attendance for the whole Madrasah was 95% (for the academic year 23/24). Up 1% from the prior academic year. We would like to thank parents for sending their children to Madrasah and on time. External examiners also praised our Madrasah behaviour as we have had no expulsions or suspension in the year.

Football tournament

Madrasah children were given an opportunity to take part in a football tournament in July. Our Madrasah admitted 5 teams. The children enjoyed the day along with the parents and once again 1 of the team even managed to reach the finals.

Assemblies and Workshop

Every month each class is given a subject to present in an assembly in front of the entire Madrasah. Some subjects covered were Status of family in Islam, Virtues of Jummah, Morning and evening Adhkar etc.

Also, every month we have a workshop which covers various subjects including Social Media, Music, LGBT, drugs etc.

Fundraising for Madrasah office renovation

Class A1B also raised £650 for the Madrasah. The money was used to renovate the office and its equipment. The children sold food/snacks/sweets etc for the rest of the Madrasah children.

10k run

Two of our Madrasah staff ran 10K to raise money for Madrasah. They raised a total of £500.

Experimentation of new ways of testing the knowledge of students.

Our aim is to innovate ways of testing the knowledge of students. We want to make examinations motivating so students can improve their knowledge as well as practicing life skills. With this in mind, we had our Advanced boys class give an Islamic Finance presentation in front of committee members and parents. The aim of this was to educate the audience whilst testing the students on their ability to research, revise, practice and present in front of a live audience which helps with confidence and life skills.

Quality of teaching Exams and assessment

The results for this year (July 2024) we had an average mark of 79% in overall exams performance. The half term exam for academic year 24/25 will take place in January 2025.

New Tajweed Strategy

We are collaborating with Madrasah Islamiyyah to improve our Tajweed Standards. We have freed up Qari Saheb to work with all the classes to further improve Tajweed and Quran Recitation.

Parents evening

We had our the first of our annual parents evening on 29th October 2024 and had the highest turnout of 88%. This is a very good opportunity for Ustaads to give feedback to parents and answer questions.

New projectors

Madrasah has acquired new projects which have been installed into most of the classrooms. They are currently being tested by the office staff to ensure they are in working order to be used by ustaads.

Painting

The classes have been refurbished during the summer. This was essential to ensure Madrasah is kept clean and presentable.

Safeguarding

DBS check, or Disclosure and Barring Service check, is a background check that Madrasah use to verify an Ustaad's criminal record. DBS checks are an important requirement for teaching, we have resubmitted DBS for all staff and are all clear to work with children.
