LOUISE BROWNE YORKSHIRE BALLET SCHOLARSHIP CENTRE FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 SEPTEMBER 2023 Chairman's Report This year we had 5 class groups, all having classes in Ballet, Contemporary and Modern Jazz. Rosemary Jagger, the secretary and treasurer, has organised the teacher's rota and made sure all the necessary pastoral care was in place each week. I cannot thank her enough for all the work she does to maintain the smooth running and financially efficient functioning of the scholarship ¢enlre. Desprte the increasing numbers of associate and scholarship schemes flooding the market YDS had successful auditions and offered places to forty new enthusiastic and hardworking scholars onto the scheme, The high standards of teaching and the varied programme that we offer has assisted many of this year's scholars to go onto full lime vocational training at some of the country's leading establishments. Antonio Borriello, as our head offaculty does a 8uperbjob of providing feedback to parents, teachers and students, as and when required, and is invaluable to the scheme. Karen Twidale and all the pastoral carers are vigilant in keeping everyone happy and safe at Joseph Rowntree School. My sincere thanks to you all. With continued support from the afor8mentioned and the efforts to improve our profile on social media we are optimistic that the centre will continue to thrive. LOUISE BROWNE YORKSHIRE BALLET SCHOLARSHIP CENTRE FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 SEPTEMBER 2023 Secretary's Report We started this new academic year with reduced classes of 5 groups which produced savings in lerms of studio space, faculty and pastoral casts. Successful auditions had been held in April 2023 with 60+ participants, 40 of whom were offered place with 10 placed on the reserve list. We subsequently offered 4 students who were on the reserve list a place. As in previous years, several of our students were SUC￿$sful in auditions for furthervocational dance training and we wish them all every success in Iheir continuing dance journey. Other students left us to pursue University education and we also wish them every sucGess. Social Media has beGome a very important marketing tool and we now utilise the pastoral team to lake photos and videos on Saturday's for us to share. Our Instagram account is very popular and produces lots of interest and interadion. We again had a team social at Bar & Grill. Leeds whiGh was attended by many of the faculty & trustees and very much enjoyed. I would like to thank my fellow Trustee's for all their help, support and hard work over the lasl year- a real team effort. I would particularly like to thank Karen Twidale, who runs the centre & the Pastoral team on a weekly basis & without whom we would not function. Rosemary Jagger ACIB IPD Secretary

LOUISE BROWNE YORKSHIRE BALLET SCHOLARSHIP CENTRE FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30TH SEPTEMBER 2023 Treasurer's Report: As we continue to get back to nomiality following 2 years of disruption after Covid, we redu¢ed the number of classes to 5 groups which reduced the weekly wages bill and enabled us lo save half a day's rent on one of the studio spaces. We have also redU￿d Pastoral care. We did not run a Summer School again this year as there didn't seem to be the enthusiasm for il either from the pupils & parents or the team. Annual auditions were held in April, back on a face to face basis and were attended with 65 studenls on the day and 4 furtheraudilions in subsequent Saturday classes. 40 applicants were offered places with 8 placed on Resetve list. This activity was self-financing as usual. We did however have some professional photographs taken for advertising purposes and also paid to boost somè of our Facebook posts in an effort to attract more interest. Whilst the margins between income and expenditure have been close, costs have been closely managed a5 always. Hopefully the cost cutting measures which vve have introduced and which are mentioned above will help us to move into 202314 in an improved position. From this September 2023 we will reduce classes to 4 groups which should have a further positive effect on expenses in tems of rent (we will only need 2 studios instead of 2.5) and further reduced faculty costs. We will also reduce pastoral care further. As always. my thanks go to the Board of Trustees, the faculty, the Pastoral team and of course the parents and students for their continued support. Rosemary Jagger ACIB. IPD Treasurer
