Park House Trust AGM 2024 at Newby Bridge Hotel , 10[th] July 2024

Chairman’s Report.

Thank you to all the Trustees for continuing to support Park House. Thanks especially to Sue Gudgeon our Treasurer who has sorted emails and bookings and of course the accounts. Thanks to Nicola Belcher and her husband Graham for making such a lovely job of the garden, and letting in guests. Thanks to Doreen for sorting things out at the last minute, and to all the others for supporting our charity.

There has been a lot of work changing the bank account Mandate, and Barclays due to financial regulations changing in September insisted that we open new accounts as a Charitable Trust rather than a charity account as they had been. The old accounts finally closed and the new ones are now fully operational.

Simon Hilton has continued to do a host of small jobs and we would like to note our appreciation.

The number of Guests staying has been increasing and we have had lots of members from both Girlguiding and Scouting enjoying the facilities. There has been a walking group stay without problems.

We have had a problem with the online website and booking system, it is complicated, but the domain had not been paid for since 2019. The website is now up and running but there may be a large bill to sort out soon

Katheryn Brinkley continues to clean and all seems well.

We have had a new carpet, new oven and also painted inside and outside, so Park House is being kept up to date and clean.

We have a problem with some of the toilets and Adam Oliver has been asked to come to sort them out. We have had to have 16 new slates replaced due to boys climbing on the roof.

We have had a lovely Curlew weather vane.

We have secured a deal with the Bowling Club to have access for guests to their car park. We agreed to pay £400 per year to allow four cars, we have paid extra if extra places are needed and the recreation committee have now taken over dealing with the car parking.

Our bank account looks healthy, even though we have spent John’s legacy on making improvements which I know he would have approved of.

The units of Guiding continue to use the building free and we hope this year we will be able to continue to do this., it is much appreciated by all the leaders of Girlguiding.

I thank all the Trustees for their continued support when needed, assisting with letting people in and doing odd jobs about the place.

Judith Myers Chairman of Park House Trust.

Minutes of the AGM of Park House Trust – June 13[th] 2022.

1). Unanimously approved.

2). Chairman’s Report – above

3). Treasurer’s reported that the £10,000 was not in these accounts as it came in after. The increased costs, we hope will not keep increasing. Income was £24,557, including a grant from the council during covid. The expenses are £13,691. Accounts attached.

Charges for guests need increasing, it was agreed that we would increase the costs to £13 pppn and a discount of £1 for Cumbria South and Kentdale members. The increases will start immediately, but not for people who are already booked.

4) Election of Trustees. Retiring - Marie Karlsson, Doreen Gregg, Nicky Belcher, Lesley McCartney. Lesley is no longer a leader with Scouts. Marie, Doreen and Nicky were all proposed by Judith and seconded it by John.

5) No-one offered to be secretary. So it was decided to see if we could co-opt one.

6) John reported that there had been a large leak in the disabled toilet a claim has been put into the insurance but it is doubtful that it will all be paid for.

No other business was reported - the meeting closed at 8p.m.
