This year has been an incredibly challenging time for the children and **Summary of the main** young people (CYP) that we work with. In March 2020 when lockdown **achievements of the charity during the year** was announced we transferred our existing youth theatre services online and extended the program to support our community as best we could. As a result, our program has grown significantly, and we are now offering classes in 4 different performing arts related disciplines. Over the course of the year we have worked with over 100 young people from across Brent and beyond as part of our online program. 

## _April 2020 - July 2020_ 

- **Brent Youth Theatre (online):** 

   - Drama Online - Weekly Youth Theatre for CYP aged 7-16 

   - Script Writing - Weekly Script Writing classes for CYP aged 7-16 

   - Creative Storytelling - Weekly Storytelling classes for CYP aged 5-8 

   - 5 films created over the course of the term - played to an online audience of over 50 people in an end of term celebration.

- **Homes of Hope (online): -** Partnership & performance project with Woodland Grove Care Home in Essex (online)

- **I Am Not My Box Summer Project (online):** - Four-week film project, developing 4 original films about Brent. 

- - Engaging CYP aged 7-16 in creating and performing in the films 

- - Engaging 10 young writers aged 16-18 in paid positions as part of the films

- 4 original songs were created with a Musical Director as well as a soundtrack for the films. 

- - 4 film live online premieres were held with over 200 people attending the films and many more viewing them after on our You tube Channel. 

_“I have always been quite shy, but Drama brought a new light into my life. During lockdown, I had nothing much to do and as soon as I found out about the drama sessions that were happening and I joined immediately. I am really happy for joining these sessions as it has helped me get over my shyness. Despite the fact of it being a bit weird doing Drama online, I found that the Zoom meetings were actually better when compared to facing an actual physical audience and having to perform and sing in_ 

_front of them. The teachers have been amazing and extremely supportive, have always been open to new ideas and above all, have helped me discover my love for acting and songwriting. In short: Brent Youth Theatre is the best thing that has happened to me during the dark months of lockdown and I cannot wait to attend more of these amazing_

- **Survive & Thrive Exhibition (in-person):** 

   - An exhibition held at The Yellow in Wembley Park celebrating all of the films created, letters exchanged and scripts written throughout the difficult lockdown period. 

   - **-** The exhibition was visited by over 100 people including the CYP and their families who were able to see the magnitude of what they had created in person.

      - Music Den - Weekly Singing & Songwriting classes for CYP aged 7-16.

- Roundwood Community School Partnership - we will be delivering outreach Drama & Music sessions in the day and extra-curricular activities in the evening. 

- Breaking the Silence - Easter project for young people to tell their stories of lockdown in a creative and hopeful way, developing a film with an original soundtrack. 

- Beyond the Heat - the show that has been developed with the CYP over the last year will be shown either live or on film in July across two venues in the borough

The trustees believe that the minimum level of the EOR should be the equivalent of twelve months' operating costs calculated and reviewed annually and believe that the EOR should be built up to the desired level in stages consistent with the charity's overall financial position and its need to maintain and develop its charitable activities.  This is money that can be spent on anything which furthers the objectives of the organisation.  All unrestricted funds come within the definition of free reserves so long as they are not currently designated.  Money from restricted funds can only be included in free reserves if the funder has given written permission for this to happen
