ETRRT ANNUAL REPORT 2024/25

1 This is the annual report of the Trust for the year 2024/25. The Trust was established in 1999 in order to provide and manage a new sports and community pavilion associated with the use of the Thursley Road Recreation Ground in Elstead, with the objective of providing recreational and leisure facilities for the inhabitants of Elstead and the surrounding area.

2 The following were appointed as members of the Trust’s Management Committee at the 24th annual meeting of the Trust held on 12 September 2024:

3 Mr Marc Bird and Mrs Tamzin Gregg were again co-opted to the Management Committee. The Management Committee members elected Mr Murphy to continue as Chairman, Mrs Hebard as Secretary and Mr Keith as Treasurer. 2 meetings of the Management Commitiee were heid during the year.

4 The main activities of the Trust during the year were those of managing the use of the pavilion by the user groups, the nursery and casual hirers. The Trust’s income has increased during the year, mainly due to increased rental payments by the nursery following their occupation of additional space in the pavilion. Expenditure has however also increased, mainly due to additional maintenance expenditure on essential roof repairs and the improvements in the fire alarm system (needed to meet Ofsted requirements), (£7,254, compared with £3,531 in 2023/4), together with increases in electricity and gas charges following the expiry of the previous fixed price contracts.. Nevertheless, the Trust ended the year with a net profit of £9,405, which has increased the Trust’s cash balance to £37,728. This represents a satisfactory further step towards the Trust’s objective of building up a substantial capital reserve of the order, initially, of £50,000 in order to cover future contingencies.

5 The Trust’s rental payments to the Parish Council (£1,884) terminated in May 2025, which will mean an equivalent reduction in expenditure in future years. A new ground rent will need to be agreed with the PC, which the Trust expects to be a nominal amount in the light of the repayment of the PC’s PWLB’s loan taken out 20 years ago to help fund the construction of the pavilion.

6 All of the work of the Trust is carried out by volunteers. No payments, even of expenses, were paid to members of the Trust during the year in their capacity as members of the Trust.
