Report of the Trustees
The Trustees present their Report and Accounts for the year ended 31 August 2025.
Name and registration
The full name of the charity is Milton Keynes Islamic Society (hereinafter known as the “Society”). The charity was registered with the Charity Commission on 6th August 1989. The registration number is 1077040.
Aims and objectives
The Society aims to develop the cultural, social and religious life of the local Muslim community by promoting education, training and social life where Islamic values, practices and manners are encouraged.
The School of Islamic Studies (“SIS”) is the first stone of the Society. The mission of the SIS lies within the context of the Society’s mission, which is:

“To provide a stimulating Islamic educational environment of high quality that helps children develop an Islamic identity

and sense of belonging to the Muslim community.”
Activities
➢ Educational activities include:
-
developing effective syllabuses and guidelines for the different programmes taught at the SIS
-
• providing a wide range of activities for children such as academic lessons in Arabic and Islamic Studies, a sports day, annual Ramadan Iftaars and various other competitions quizzes throughout the year
-
providing useful books, literature and periodicals for members of the Society
-
organising educational visits for children and their families
-
appointing SIS management team and overseeing its activities
All educational activities are mainly based at Southwood School in Bryony Place, Milton Keynes

➢ Social activities include:
-
organising social gatherings to strengthen the relationship between members of the community through fundraising activities
-
organising Eid parties
-
conducting Nikah ceremonies and Islamic funerals
All activities are carried out through hired premises.
➢ Administration
The rent charges are agreed with Southwood School on a yearly basis based on a weekly hire. The society ‘s registered address has been changed to 14 Winchester Circle, Kingston, Milton Keynes, MK10 0BA . The rent for the new registered address has been agreed to £200 per quarter (charged annually in arrears first year) which includes storage space.

Trustees
The following people acted as Trustees during the year:
Mr Wahid Ali Mr Hamid El-Ghazili Mr Farhan Rais Mr Zafar Mirza
No Trustee had any interest in the charity.
There have been no serious incidents to report under the Charity Commission guidelines.
The Trustees have been heavily involved in the day to day running of the school due to a shortage of volunteers and lack of senior volunteers to take up management responsibilities.

Statement of Trustees' Responsibilities
The Trustees are responsible for preparing accounts each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the income and expenditure of the charity for the year. In preparing those financial statements, the Trustees are required to:

manage the Society and school activities
-
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently
-
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent
-
prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation
The Trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

1. Accounting policies
a. Basis of preparation
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with applicable United Kingdom accounting standards, the Statement of Recommended Practice on the Accounting for Charities and the Charities Act 2011.
b. Basis of consolidation
These accounts include the results of the Milton Keynes Islamic Society – Centre (“the Centre”) and the School of Islamic Studies.
c. Income
All income is accounted for when it is received.
d. Expenditure
All expenditure is accounted for when it is paid.
e. Fixed assets
Fixed assets are stated at cost, net of depreciation and any provision for impairment. Depreciation is provided on all fixed assets at rates calculated to write off the cost, less its estimated residual value, over its useful economic life, as follows:

Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of Milton Keynes Islamic Society
Charity law requires charities with a gross income of more than £25,000 to have some form of external scrutiny of their accounts. This threshold is subject to change from time to time as the regulations made under the 2011 Act are updated.
Milton Keynes Islamic Society’s income for the year ending 31.08.2025 was £40,013 and falls in the category requiring independent examination.
Independent examiner’s statement
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Milton Keynes Islamic Society (the Trust) for the year ended 31 August 2025.
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

accounting records were not kept

the accounts do not accord with those records

the format of the accounts is incorrect
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
