Visits to our Global Obesiiy Observatory in 2024 reached over 2.4 inillion and a slaggering increase of over a million visits
froiii 2023, Ivith iYebsil¢ iisers rising to over 800k, Ivith visitors froii) niore than 230 countries, islands and territories.
At the heart of all our ivork is oiir groiving neiivork of Ineinbers. In 2024, Ive iyelcoined 12 neiv meinber organizalions,

Convening obesity stakeholders globally
This World Obesity Day on 4 March, the Global Obesity Coalition hosted a global youth-led ivebinar to
unlock conversations arouiid holy obesity affects the lives of young peopl¢ around the iyorld and Ili¢ conci'ete
chang¢ they are both leading and deinanding.
Our event brought together alinost 300 participants and included youth voices froin Barbados, Souih Africa,
Jordan, Philippines, USA, UK and Brazil. The Inlernalional Congresson Obesity is World Obesity's flagsliip
congress, held every 2 years. This year Ihe event look place in sao Paulo, Brazil froin 26-29 June. Partnering

programine's highest accolade. Dr Georgia Argyrakopouloii and Dr Siavros Lialis frojn Greece, along iyiih
Dr Sara Suliinan from the UAE, Ivere aivarded Inl¢rnalional Felloivships in recognition of their exeinplary
contributions to obesity management on a global scale. Dr Franklin Abalos of Argentina received a National
Felloiyship for his significant iinpacl ivithin his coiintry. These Felloivships reflect SCOPE'S coiniiiiliiieiit
to celebraling and advancing excellence in the field of obesity care.
In 2024. Ive introduced SCC)PF. Sessinns. a neiv ivebinar series designed to provide healthcare professionals
Iviih accessible and ii)IpacifLII training in obesity Inanageinent. Each session contributes oiie SCOPE point
loivard certification ivhile addressing key aspects of obesity care. Topics covered incliided the intersections
of obesity ivilh sleep apiioea and womeii's health, Ivith iipcoining sessions focusing on cardioi'asciilAI'
disellse. The series has been ivell-received, Iviih iiieinbers of ihe World Obesity Federation accessing
sessions for frec, Ivhile non-lneiiibers benefii froin affordable pricing Options.
We continued lo expand access to our Core Learning Paih (CLP), awardlng 1,000 scholfirslilps to
hexltlicnre professioiinls in coiinlries siich as Australia, Brazil, China, France, Geriiiany, Iiidia, Italy, Korea,
Kiiivail. Qalar, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, the UK, and the UAE. Tliese scholarships alloived parlicipanls
lo iindertake the coiiiprehensive eight-modLile course, iyhich forins the foundation of SCOPE Certification
and equips practitioners ivith the skills and knoivledge to Inanage obesity effectively.
Middle EAst And North AfrleA (MENA) Worklng Group.
World Obesity has been ivorking ivith obesity experts in the Middle East and North Africa {MENA) region
for several years. Activities have inclLided iyork on paliei)t advocacy (iiicluding ilie developiiiei)l of the
Paliei)I Poi'lal), several SCOPE Schools, Ivork ori the 'Gulf & Lebanon Regional Recoininendalioi)s' aiid
n)ore recently, Ilie creation of the MENA Working Group.
Tlle MENA Working Group ivas e51abli5hed at Ihe end of 2022 10 oversee Ilie developii)enl of a regional
obesity association. Tlie Working Group is cliaired by Dr Sara Suliinan froin tlie UAE and co-cliaired by Dr
Ebaa Al Ozairi froin Kiiivail.
Tl)e Working Groiip held Ilie first MENA conference in conjuiiclion ivilh Ilie 6th UAE Ob¢sily Coiiference
in Noveiiibei. 2024. The event iyas a siiccess iviil) over 600 attendees. At the conference, a planning ineeling
Ivas held for 2025 activities and beyond. 2025 activities are expected to include a secoiid MENA conference
and the official registration of the association.
Collecting and disseminating kno)vledge on obesity
Journnls
World Obesity publish¢5 four scientific, peer-revieiyed joumals, each focusing on a different area of obe51ty
researcli.. sysl¢inalic revieivs, paedialrics. clinical irealinent, and science and practice. The journals provide
an excellent resourc¢ for those in the obesity field and raise ihe standing and reputation of World Obesity.
Throughout 2024 negotiations took place ivith the incumbent publisher, Wiley, to agree a neiv contract for
the journals portfolio. This iyas agreed and signed by the close of 2024 iyliich significantly iinproved
financial terms for the Federation.
