This report accompanies the Accounts statement.
Treasurer’s Report for AGM – 28th March 2022
The Accounts for the financial year 1[st] February 2021 to 31[st] January 2022 have been audited by an Independent Examiner of Accounts, as required by the Scout Association and the Charity Commission. The accounts were Approved by the Group Executive Committee on 14[th] March 2022 and are now presented for Adoption by the 3rd Bramshill Group Scout Council at the AGM.
INCOME
It was lovely to get back to some degree of normality this year, with groups using the Hall for face-to-face activities. We were also able to take part in some fund-raising events.
Our INCOME was £35,574 (£32,214 the previous year).
This includes: £4,490 from our Hall users and Lettings. £4,729 retained from Subs. £2,688 raised at the ‘May’ Fair (held in August) and Christmas Market
£1,639 raised from selling Christmas Trees £1,189 raised from other sources, e.g. the Easy Fundraising portal, Hart Lottery, Gig on the Green, Road Races, Live Nativity and taking the Roller slide to School Fairs. £11,596 Grants from Hart District Council
GIFT AID has not yet been claimed for the tax year of 2020 to 2021, but will be completed shortly. There are still many parents/carers who have not yet signed a Gift Aid Declaration via OSM. Therefore, if you are a tax payer, please can I take this opportunity to ask you to do so? This can raise over £2,000 of additional funds for the group if everyone signs up.
EXPENDITURE
Our EXPENDITURE was £37,960 (£13,061 the previous year – lower due to Covid lockdowns). Running costs included:
£12,414 Hall Costs, including utilities, insurance, maintenance, broadband and cleaning. £1,632 for Badges, Neckers and Leaders’ uniform (mainly badges).
£87 for Admin, including Go Daddy web fees, OS Subscription and Poppy wreath. £14,553 Group Expenditure (the majority was for the new outdoor areas). £220 Leader Training including Archery and shooting
Activities
Thankfully Camps and off-site activities were able to take place this year. The expenditure for these was all covered by income received from the young people who took part.

The End of Year account balance was £48,215 (£48,601 at the start of the year). This has remained similar to last year, but has been helped substantially by the ‘Covid’ Grants that we have continued to receive.

Chair Report 2021-2022
2021 saw me complete my forth year as Chair. It was lovely to see the return to face-to-face scouting and the Committee and the Leaders have worked hard to ensure that the return was safe and enjoyable for all.
The executive committee continued to meet virtually over 2021. We discuss a range of things, from fundraising and accounts; to the activities that Beavers, Cubs and Scouts take part in. The meetings last year continued to be dominated by our response to the Covid pandemic and how to return to Scouting safely.
3[rd] Bramshill exists because of the time that the leaders give. They do not get paid for their time and many of them continue on to support long after their children pass through the organisation. We continue to need more parent helpers. If you are able to spare a few evenings over the year, please let your leader know. Your help in assisting at even a few sessions would be much appreciated. It might even make the difference between an evening being able to go ahead or not.
In addition, fundraising efforts, which help subside the activities we do, depends on the support we receive from you. An hour’s support makes a massive difference. Please, please think about helping us to provide your children with the best possible experience.
Sadly, this will be my last year as Chair. I have thoroughly enjoyed my role and I will continue to support the group in other ways as much as I can.
Claire Rason - Chair
Hall Manager Report 2021-2022
The Hall is well utilised. 3rd Bramshill Beavers, Cubs and Scouts hold their meetings in the hall throughout the weekday afternoons and evenings. In addition the Explorers, 1st Yateley Rainbows, 7th Yateley Brownies, 4th Yateley Guides, TEDS dance school and Gateway Fellowship also hire the facilities during the weekday evenings and weekends, although during Covid restrictions these groups have been unable to meet at the hall. The hall is now regularly used for martial arts classes during weekday mornings as well.
The hall is also available for hire to the public / other clubs for events and meetings. There is some availability for the hall to be hired during school hours and school holidays, and as Covid restrictions are lifted, the possibility to increase the hall’s use during these times will increase. The number of hires to the public has increased since Christmas with the hall being used for children’s parties and other family events.
COVID-19 update: Please note that the hall is available for bookings but users must now follow our Covid-19 guidelines.
There have been improvements made to the lodge toilet facilities, these are still ongoing, there are plans to update the entrance hall and kitchen facilities. We also hope to replace the internal and external doors and enhance the main hall acoustics. We made good use of the new temporary fenced area to the rear of the Lodge throughout the summer and winter months.

We have installed CCTV cameras and they will be commissioned over the next couple of months. The accompanying policies will be issued prior to commissioning and any questions can be directed to me.
Phase 2 of the extension works require more fund raising, details of how to help fundraise are also on the notice board.

Group Scout Leader (GSL) Report 2021 - 2022
This year will be the third of our online Annual General Meetings although we do hope it will be our last as we would much prefer to welcome you all to our Scout Lodge. An AGM is necessary every year to meet our obligations under the Charity Commissions rules and to present our accounts.
We have an elected Executive Committee that manages the Groups affairs which leaves our Scouting Leaders’ free to run the Scouting programme for the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. Offers of help to serve in an Executive or Scout Leader role are always gratefully received.
With 3 Beaver Colonies and 2 Cub Packs and 1 Scout Troop there are over 130 youths in our Group which gives us a practical problem to deliver and sustain a quality programme. Clearly our aims to offer an exciting programme are being achieved as youth numbers continue to grow. Again, this last year our committee, under the leadership of Claire Rason as Chairperson has been very proactive to ensure the success of our Group. I would like to state that we Leaders hugely appreciate their endeavours. I would like to personally thank them all for their efforts and support to us Leaders. Claire (Chair) has decided to step down this year due to due family and work commitments and I for one will be sorry to see her go. I would like to thank her on behalf of all of us for her unfailing commitment and energy in delivering us through the last two years of the pandemic.
Our three Beaver Colonies (2 on Tuesday and 1 on Wednesday) are run by Julie PhillipsStafford (Mole), Paul Woodford (Squirrel) and Wayne Hooper (Falcon). On Tuesday for the Forest Colony, Julie (Mole) is assisted by Paul (Squirrel), James (Wolf) and Emma (Hedgehog). Squirrel runs the other Tuesday Colony; Copse and he is assisted by Mole. Our Wednesday Colony, Woodlands is run by Wayne Hooper (Falcon) and he is assisted by Mole and Jude as a Sectional assistant.
At Cubs we have now had a bit of a change around as Paul Ruddick our former Tuesday Cub Scout Leader (Akela) has moved onto Scouts as Skip. He can still be seen helping at Cubs but Ian Puttock our former Thursday Cub Scout Leader (Akela) has moved from Thursday Cubs to run the Tuesday Cub Pack. Akela Ian retains the support of the Tuesday Cub Scout leaders and is assisted by Assistant Cub Scout Leaders, Chris Cole (Bagheera) and Rebekah Cole (Haiti) and Alison Slater as a Sectional Assistant.

I am pleased to say, actually I am delighted to say that Nick Cutbill as risen to the challenge and become Akela of the Thursday Pack he is assisted by Assistant Cub Scout Leaders Richard Cole, and Rob Joyner as Sectional Assistant with additional help being provided by Paul and Sam from Scouts.
So at the Scout Troop as I have already said Paul Ruddick is now our Scout Leader fondly known as Skip. Chris Mead formerly ran our Scout Troop but he has stepped down in order to start up the Yateley Explorers who meet at our Scout Lodge. However, Chris retains an
Assistant Scout Leader role within the troop. Help at Scouts is provided by Alastair Swaffer in his role as AGSL(Scouts), James Yates and Sam Puttock as Assistant Scout Leaders, Ed Dallas, Ian Bateman and Luke Cherry as Sectional Assistants (Scouts). Quite a team but Skip needs them all with our number of Scouts,
I would like to thank them all on your behalf for all their efforts particularly as they have had to undergo training themselves.
Enjoy the evening! Ray Bunce - Group Scout Leader
Beaver Report 2021 – 2022
It’s so nice to report that since our last AGM we have had a whole year of in-person Beaver meetings!
We spent as much time as we could outside going on walks and bike rides, building shelters on the common and visiting the Lookout Discovery Centre and St Peter’s church. We put up tents, had a go at archery, built fires and toasted marshmallows over them, learnt the Green Cross Code and how to stay safe near water, tried yoga, sign language and Haggis and best of all got to go to camp!
In August, for the first time in over 2 years, 13 Beavers experienced camp with our Cubs at Chalfont Heights and plans are already underway for this year’s camp during May half term. We are looking forward to the longer days when we can get back outside again and continue to earn lots of badges which I know the parents love sewing on to jumpers!
As always, none of this is possible without the support of my fellow leaders Squirrel, Wolf, Hedgehog, Falcon and Fox and also thanks to Cub and Scout leaders for helping out when needed.
Looking forward to another exciting year ahead.

We have had a great year at Cubs, with our young people getting involved in so many different fun activities. It has also been brilliant getting back to nearly a full year of face-toface Scouting activities (as much as we liked virtual meetings…!).
As in previous years, the Cubs seem to have a favourite selection of games, including electric wire, War Time Yateley, dodgeball and death square. The classic ones are the best!
We also had our first camp in 2 years in 2021, when we went to Paccar Campsite in Chalfont St Peter. Cubs were joined by Beavers for part of the camp and everyone had a fantastic time. Activities included shooting, nightline, Olympic games, a woodland trail, assault course, whittling and crate stacking (which is scarier than it sounds!), among others.
Cubs also had the opportunity to sharpen their Scouting knowledge and skills at the District Cub Skills day. This was well-attended by all groups in the district and the Cubs tried things that they hadn’t before, such as tomahawk throwing and kayaking. This year we also held Jamboree on the Air/Internet at the hut where the Cubs communicated with members of the Scouting movement from across the world, including Australia, France, the Netherlands, Portugal, the USA and many other countries.
Back at the hut, we have managed to keep activities varied, fun and interesting, helping Cubs work towards their Challenge Awards and, ultimately, achieving Chief Scout Silver which several Cubs managed to do – congratulations to all who have earned badges this year. The Cubs also enjoyed having visitors, learning about healthy eating and sustainability from Danone for their Chef badge, and learning about the solar system and telescopes from a keen astronomer for their Astronomer badge. The Cubs are always eager to learn about different hobbies, skills or causes, so if you have a passion that you’d like to share with the Cubs then please do reach out to us and we can make it happen.
Current numbers are around 27 Cubs on a Tuesday and 22 on a Thursday. Many Cubs also attend our Friday night shooting and archery clubs which are very popular.
None of the above would be possible without having such a keen bunch of leaders, helpers and young leaders to put our programmes into practice, so thank you to all:
· Paul (Shere Khan), Alison (Raksha), Chris (Bagheera), Bekkah (Hathi) and Joshua, Charlotte and Jonathan (Young Leaders) at Tuesday Cubs; and
· Paul (again!), Sam (Mang), Rob (Kaa), Richard (Baloo) and Arwen, Eowyn and Charlie (Young Leaders) at Thursday Cubs.
This next year is looking to be as action packed as the last and any help, no matter how small, would go a long way to keeping a fun and varied programme of activities running. Any one of the Leadership team would be happy to chat with you about helping, so please do let us know if you are interested.

Scout Report 2021 – 2022
We have been really happy to be able to get back to face to face Scouting this year, after all the online sessions as fun as they were the ability to get back to camping and troop activities has been excellent.
The troop is a very healthy size at 45 scouts, 2 young leaders and 7 adult regular leaders – I would like to say a particular thank you to all the adult volunteers who give up their time to help with the troop without you it would not be possible.
In no particular order many thanks to – Ed, Ian, Luke, Sam, Alastair, Ray, Chris and James.
We have had several youth members achieve their Gold Award and fully expect this trend to continue going forwards!!
We started camping as soon as we could with an expedition trip for our older Scouts to complete their Chief Scouts Gold requirements with a weekend trip to Blacklands Farm, Girl Guide Campsite in East Grinstead before they moved up to the Explorer Section. For the return trip on the Sunday high 30’s so we had a very early start to beat the heat
We have since been away on two troop camps so far; firstly, at Ferny Crofts for our Summer Camp, which was attended by 24 Scouts. The camp included but was not limited to - climbing actives such as gladiator challenge and crate stacking, hikes, campfires and a trip to Lymington on the train and some fish and chips.
Our second Camp has been Winter Camp at Garners field in February which was excellent – the Scouts travelled to the site in Farnham from Yateley and we had a great visit to the Rural life museum in Tilford. It was cold in the mornings but good firewood processing by keen scouts kept us warm.
We have also attended district walk-in camps this year, the Archery competition and the district night escape which was held for the first time since 2020.
Some of the highlights of the term’s meetings have included our trip to the Aldershot Military Museum which fell on Remembrance Day, the Drug Bus Experience the Scouts did in conjunction with the local council, kayaking, lots of cooking, hiking, DIY, games, Tomahawk throwing and of course lots of campfires and marshmallows to mention but few of the things we have done this year.
We have lots more camps planned for this Summer and other activities going forward, we could always use more help to give the Scouts the best experience we can. Please let me know if you are interested in helping out.

Air rifle & Pistol Shooting Club Report 2021 – 2022
In the past you may recall that Air Riffle shooting would be on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month and Archery on the 2nd and 4th Friday. However, we are now running our sessions in blocks and so this term is it the turn of Rifle shooting.
Over the weekend of the 9th and 10th October 2021 our archers were able to take part is a District Archery competition run at the 8[th] Scout HQ and I am pleased to say that one of our youth won the overall competition.
Archery Club Report 2021 – 2022
Our Archery Club has been running since September 2016. We currently have four qualified instructors within the Group.
We alternate with shooting on a half termly basis and archery will be starting again after the Easter break on Fridays between 7.30pm and 9pm. Numbers were good last half term and both our Cubs and Scouts did well in the District Competition.
The sessions allow some time for coaching and an opportunity to improve on technique and scores as well as playing a variety of games including the pizza game, noughts and crosses and the numbers game.
It has been great to see both the improvement in technique and scores as the weeks go by. We would like to see a few more regularly attending (it only costs £1 a session).
Ian Puttock – Group Skills Instructor – Archery
Julie Phillips-Stafford – Group Skills Instructor – Archery
Paul Ruddick – Group Skills Instructor - Archery
Kayak & Canoe Club – 2021 – 2022
We were unfortunately only able to offer kayaking on one evening a week from June 2021. However, we still managed to offer kayaking to around 20 young people wanting to learn to paddle a kayak at Hawley Lake. I am sure it was enjoyed by all who took part.
We ran 12 sessions at Hawley Lake and 1 at Garners Field for the Cubs Activity Day. We also took part in the ‘Jaffa’ Amazon River challenge adding the miles we kayaked to the Scouts national total.
In order to offer the opportunity of regular kayaking & canoeing to our ever increasing numbers of Cubs and Scouts, a team of ‘qualified adults’ is needed; without these dedicated Leaders and Parents we could not run the activities. Please do let us know if you can help in any way.
We hope to start the 2022 season immediately after the Easter holidays and are looking forward to sunny evenings at Hawley and I hope a trip to Gosport and the Basingstoke Canal Challenge in
