OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES
The objectives of the charity are to foster. ¢nwurJg¢ and provide opportunities for people of all ages
to participate increase their coDfiden¢e and enjoy being involved in creative performing arts
actsvities.

ACHIEVEMENfs AND PERFORMANCE
The trust's activities were severely inipacted b). the Covid-19 pandemic. Our CEO. Carl Wh¢ad¢y.
summarised the y￿r as folloiys..
"In a 'nornMI' vear, NAPA offers almost 100 classes foT all ages across any given week. We atso iTro
in dozcns of local piimaT)' scb(K)Is offerillg Musical Thsatre tuÉtion as part of our school outreach
worl and w'e stage pla!s and musicajs in our oivn 125-seater theatrc.
We're also knoThm for our outstanding dance tuition and manTr of our fornier pupils have gone on to
haN'¢ incrtxlible &7reers iu danK drama and West End musicals, and we are proud of eath and every
one of our voung pcoplc. Wc currend}' have former pupils in eveTr major drama and dance school in
London including RADA LAMDK Guildhall School of Music and Drami Central School. Guildford
School of Actin& Mountview Theatre Art5, ALR￿ and man!. more.
Our oveTall ￿nL however. is to inspire self-confidcnce. communicaiion skills a￿1 self-Tr4'0rth in thc
650 cbildr¢n m.ho all¢nd our Clas￿ and to sure tbev're learning new skills in a safe environment

Of cour5c, this ilas far from a norn]al vw. Ll(¢ many arts OTganisatsoDs. we were completely
knocked off our feet by the global pandcmic.
We had to close 17th March 2020 due to coronaTr7rn5 restrictions and our incom¢ stopped
overnight. All work in local sch(K>]s also came to an abrupt C￿1.
- Our l'ear rurAS alongside the academic N'ear and li'e did njanage to open for a fcTh' w¢¢ks but had to run
a rcduccd ts"mctablc duc to rcstrictions placed on class sizes, social distancing and use of our buildi￿.
We were also unable to stsge ani. musi(2ls or pla￿S in our in-house thLth for the period of natt.onal
lockdoilm. Our n]ain pr(Kluction at Hull Tru¢k (Grease) lias reschcduled twice before
ultimatelv being cancelled.
Our home is a Grade 2 listed heritage building and our ftN¢d costs didn't rcduc¢ during th¢ ¢nfoTc¢d
closure. We are also VCT)" proud of the fact that SIC S%fFe able to look after our people during thc
pandemic. The vast majonty of our freelance staff havc continued to bc paid alongside our SaI￿Acd
staff ilho wcrc fjjrloughcd. Wc'rc dch'gbtcd tb2t 0xtr￿clyIalc￿tcd team were available to come
back th¢ moment w'e iiere alloii'ed to open our doors.
During th¢ lockdo1￿ M'c offercd a full PTogTammc of remotr learning- all free to our CUTrent
members, in dance, drama and musi(21 tb¢atre. Th¢ feedback from parents Incr￿lb1¢- many
describing our work during Covid-19 as 'Eife5a￿lg. for their children.
As an organisats.on ive are coLstantl)' punching alx)ve our ilAeight an(L like many others, we've found it
frustrating that the momenturn ￿￿'d buiFt up bas been hait¢d so abruptlv, but ivith support from the
Arts Council's Culture Recovery Fund and Hull Ctty, c(Kll￿11 ive've managed to brcathe, regroup and
l(K)k to the futllre.
