A reminder to all Trustees of the section of the Governing Document relating to AGMs, which is section 10. To save you looking it up the relevant piece is copied below;
“Due to the nature of employment of the majority of the trustees, regular meetings are not possible. The Board of Trustees will however meet at the request of any trustee”...
If any Trustee wishes to hold a meeting please let one of the co-chairs know. Similarly if there are any questions arising from this report please feel free to e-mail them to one of the co-chairs who will copy the question and answer to all Trustees.
My Report
The accounts for the year April 6th 2023 to 5th April 2024 are attached.
Income versus spending
If you would like a copy of the full breakdown of the transactions, rather than the totals of each category, one of the co-chairs shall be pleased to provide them.
This has been an exciting year for HighFlight, with the addition of many new trustees, and a plan to relaunch the charity in the spring to boost income and awareness among British Airways crew. After years of dwindling income through a reduction in direct payroll contributions, HighFlight received two substantial donations this year, from the BA Community Fund and the BA voucher scheme, which significantly enhanced its income.
Total Income verses Expenditure
2021-2022 saw an income of £20,040 and expenditure of £29,380 2022-2023 saw an income of £19,074 and expenditure of £24,460 2023-2024 saw an income of £48,871 and expenditure of £28,032
Operations
In the last year, the principal operations of HighFlight have been:
-
the provision of grant funding to Kent Gliding Centre, with whom we have now flown many disadvantaged and disabled people in gliders.
-
the provision of funding through FSDP (Flying Scholarships for Disabled People). In 2023-24 two scholarships were funded.
This fulfils the requirement of the Charities act 2006 in which we confirm that we have had regard to our public benefit.
General Statement
The Charity thanks you for you continuing support and we look forward to another busy year for HighFlight.
