Manager’s Report 2023
It is not about smart children, it is about Happy Children who have the confidence and courage to learn and pursue things dear to their hearts! - Alexandra Eidens
2023 — another year gone by!!
We have had a very successfulyear for attendances and staff retention. Following the Curiosity Approach with the children was the best decision we ever made! A modern day approach to Early Years development. Natural resources, real tea sets (yes some get broken!) and objects of wonder to stir curiosity and imagination.
Thank you to our good friend Doug Kent for providing Easter Eggs to all the children. The children sent a thank you card.
Although Summer wasn’t exceptionally hot, we had lots of outside play under sun umbrellas, stories in the sun and pretend ice creams, and a few real ones! Taking the inside toys out onto the lawn and making good use of our playground wasa great success!
Themes throughout the year were accompanied by books and real experiences. We have done lots of baking, the children are loving all the biscuits and cakes made, eating them at snack time! We even made our own soup with some of the vegetables the children grew outside.
Claremount Methodist Church, a local church, is providing foods for the children’s snacks. It has been so helpful to us as we no longer buy from the charity FareShare as we could not afford it, and lots of the foods given to us we couldn’t use.
September was a quiet month but as the weeks went by we filled our spaces quickly.
Christmas wasa lovely event, Father Christmas came, advent calendars were provided by our friend Doug again. The children have had a brilliant year!!

Management Committee Convenor’s Report 2023
From its foundation, the mission of Manor Childcare Centre has always been to provide affordable and accessible childcare to children from 22 to 11 years. Since 2012 that age range has been extended to include all 2 year olds. The continuing dedication of the staff, and the leadership offered by Jacqui and Tracy, are to be commended and have enabled us to continue to offer a quality service throughout 2023.
After the disrupted years of the COVID-19 Pandemic, 2023 was more settled year.
The whole area of childcare, and work with children from birth to 11 years, continues to be under almost continuous change. I seem to find myself saying this every year in my Annual Report, and 2023 was no exception. Government initiatives continue to mean that the way both Pre-School and After School activities are planned and organised are continually changing and developing. This puts additional pressure on the staff, both with the requirement for ongoing training and the necessary follow-on implementation process.
Finally, the Management Committee values input from parents and carers, and our constitution allows for a number of parent and community representatives on the Committee, some of which are currently vacant. If you would be prepared to consider joining the Committee, please speak to Jacqui, Tracy or myself.
The Committee would like to thank you for your continued support over the last year. Thanks should also be expressed to our hosts at Christ Church.
Rev Ian Smith
