very glad lo move beyond the Covid era. we found ourselves in a cost-ol-living cnsis with the highest inflation

families struggling lo meet their most basic needs told us enough
We heard from expectant parents looking for Information on what equipment they truly couldn't live wrthoul. lo
families looking for inlomalion on how to apply for support. lo families on the very edge of desperation. facing
the most drfficurt decisions.

concems We started producing new resources and guides focused on ft"nancial support, training Staff and
volunteers on how lo deal with these sorts ol questions and buildin9 bridges wrth organisations that specialise in
these areas. all the while looking at how we could alleviate our own staff s financial concems.

Economic Co-operation and Development IOECDI Our team saw - and continues to see lamilies needing
support wrth affording childeaie. which they need in order lo work.
The issues our families face every day are compounded by Ihe fact that the heatth and so¢ial ¢are systems are
barely coping This means that the infomialion, community and support we offer lo our families are mofe
important Ihan ever.
2022-23 was the fifst year of our new strategic plan. This plan puls our families al the heart ol everythin9 we do.

A pefsonal highlight for me wa$ taking on the role of Chair of the Board of Trustees in March. I have been on
the Board since 2018, and prr)r lo that ￿eNed support from the charity. To be able lo give back in this way Is
real honour foi me.
We have had many successes this year which appear IhToughoul this report, from serving families. lo educating
healthcare professionals. lo changing policy lo make Ihe worfd a better pl¥e IOT Ojf families. I know thal many
continue to lace signihcanl Challenges. bul a small bright spot for me Is how the hard work and dedication of our
staff and volunleers allows us to make a difference lo real people, every single day.
I would like to take this opportunity lo thank my predecessor. Krista Pound who Served wrth distinction as
Trustee and then Chair for nine yearg. Krista led us through growth and the development ol many
programmes and shepherded the organisalion throu9h Ihe global pandemic. I would also like lo pay Iribule lo

Ounng the 2022-23 financial year. we laid the groundwork lor our new online educaltonal series, which will
begin In September 2023. This was designed lo build on the success of our Ihree-year partnership with St
George's NHS Trust, during which we ran 25 courses on a range ol topics. reaching 1.860 professionals. Our
new series is designed to cover each major topic relevant lo the care of a muliiple pregnancy and birth and is
delivered by specialist clinicians and researchers fr￿1 across the UK.
For midwlves and nurses:
Alongside consultants and sonographers, midwves are a Crucial part of Ine mutti-disGiplinary team that should
be responsible for every multiple pregnancy. As such, education and engagement with midwives is crucial,
particularly early on In their career. although as above, there remains a deficit in education ol sludenl mifvives
which has been compounded by the NHS staffing ¢nsi$.
Twins Tnjsl ensu￿$ that midwNes with an Interest In multiple pregnancies have access to both virtual and in-
person learning opportunities. We are pleased that we can also tailor our contenl lo the Specif￿ experiences of
professionals in Northern Ireland and Scotland. who deal wrth slightly different Clfcumslances For example. this
year we delivered a webinar specifically focused on Northern Ireland lo a group of 60 student midwive5 in
Beffasl. This not only served lo enhance their mulliple$-specifi¢ knowledge. il also signposted how Twins Trust

the LGBTQ+ community and the black community. to ensure we understand what value we can add lo
organisalions already doing invaluable work We have created several new online communities because of
these meetings, which complement our other top1c-s￿￿IC Communities. We ￿11 continue to en$ts￿ that we
both Serve and feflecl our diverse community.
Having surveyed over 500 people from within our communrty. we found out that the greatest number of
respondenls heard of us Ihfough a healthcare prOfess￿nal. We have lailoied our COMMUn￿allOnS to healthcare
piolessionals ¥cordingly. thereby enabling th￿￿ lo provhle people experiencing a rnultiple pregnancy with the
most relevant. lar9eled Infonnalion.

Twins Trust achieved a significant rise in A-lisl press coverage this year, from 21 pieces the previous year lo 39
pieces this year, includin9 pieces In the Miiror. The Sun and on Ihe Tcday Pr￿ramffle.
Our social media reach also grew exponentially throughout thè year. Our Facebook reach grew by 671% the
previous year, and by 132Vo on Instagram.

Campaigning is an important part of Twins Trust's work, with over ￿0-thIrd5 of (Mjr families citing rt as a priorty
for them. Twns Tnjst had some significant campaigning and policy wins during tha 2022-23 financial year. most
notably when the Neonatal Leave and Pay Bill gained Royal Assent This new law will provide financial support
for families with babies in NICU. thereby providing reassuranc8 to parenls during uncertain limes. This is the
result of many years of campaigning by Twins Trusl. alongside our partners Bliss and The Smallest Things,
among othe￿.
With a fecord number of requests for linanc¢al SUPFL)rt in 2022-23, Twins Trust realised that aclion needej to be
laken on helping farnilies mèet the addrtional financial Challenges they face Our lami1ies' lop priority In this area
was childcare costs. which we agreed lo priorilise In advance ol the next election Twins Trust j¢ined a ntr4
coalition that was being sel up lo campaign on this issue. With members from all stakeholder groups. the Ear
Education and Childcare Coalition unites the voices ol all Ih05e wrth a stake in the future ol earfy educ*ion and
re children. parents. providers, the earfy education workforce. and the wider business cornmunily We are
a¢tively working wrth this group on election strategy, ensLJring th81 the voice of our families is represented.
To ensure that Ihe multsples community Is represented at the Covid Ptsblic Inquiry, Twins Trust joineLI wrth olhar
pregnancy and baby charities in gaining participant status. 11 will mean that the èxperiences of our families
during that lime will be heard by the inquiry

Alongside income raised from the rnembership base, there's been really strong performance Irom fundraisin9
events The highlight wa5 the 'Saving Babies, Lives, appeal, which ran in March 2023 An incredible £62.916
wa5 raised In just 36 hours by 1,200 people, lar exceeding the original £50.000 tar9el This appeal raised over
four times MO￿ than the charity s Pfevious largest appeal Twins Trust staff and community rallied round lo
reach the goal Thanks lo the generosity of partners Including lèad sponsor. Leigh Day, the first £15,000 ol gifts
were maleh-funded. The appèal was shortlisled foi a Third Sector charity award in the Breakthrough of the Year
category.
Twins Trust has been dNersifying in¢ome streams and there are now corporate partnerships in place with two
law firms, Irwin Mrt¢hell and Leigh Day. Both firms gave £10,DOO lo Twins Trust in 2022123. Leigh Day was

INVESTMENT POLICY AND PERFORMANCE
The Trustees. having regard lo the liquidty requirements of operating Twin Trusfs services and lo the reserves
licy, have ¢)peraled a policy of keeping available funds in interest bearing deposit accounts. The funds held on
deposit achieved an average interest rate of 2.77% over the year.
RESERVES POLICY
In determining the re$eNe$ policy of the Chanty, the Trustees have conside￿￿ the level of operaling expenses

We have a wlicy and follow HMRC guidance of designating any surpluses made on our parenting classes

The Company is a charitable company, incorporated in EngL4nd. Wales and Scotland.
Its registered office is Sutte 7.02 Crown House. One Crown Square. Woking, GU216HR.
The Company Is a company limrted by guarantee. In the event of the Company being wound up. the
liabilty in respect of the guarantee is limrted lo £1 per mèmber of the Company.

The financial slalemenls have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 1021
Accounting and Reporting by Charities. Slalemenl ol Recommended Practice applicable lo charities
preparing their accounts In accordance with the Financial Reportin9 Standard applicable in the UK
and Republic (rf Ireland IFRS 102} leffective 1 January 20191. the Financial Reporting Standard
