## **Chair’s report**

As with everyone else, 2020 has been an unexpected year for Birmingham Unitarians. Following the introduction of Covid-19 restrictions in March, we have moved online. We are currently have worship every Sunday and discussion every Wednesday, both on Zoom. We’ve been really pleased to welcome new friends to both. Our congregational WhatsApp group has been busier than ever, sharing news, food for thought and a lot of nature photography.

During the summer we were moved by the Black Lives Matters protests that took place across the country and we renewed our commitment to racial justice. Our minister Winnie Gordon led a thought-provoking book group on “White Supremacy and Me” by Layla Saad. This was attended by members of the congregation and others who were interested in learning more about concepts such as white privilege and structural racism. As a congregation, we unanimously passed a motion affirming that Black Lives Matter at our delayed Annual General Meeting in September. We look forward to learning, growing and developing further in the future.
