## **Independent Examiners’ report to the Trustees of Alpha India Foundation**
I report on the accounts of the Charity for the year ended 30 June 2024, which are set out on pages 4 to 5.
## Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner
The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (The Act) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to;
examine the accounts under section 145 of the Act;,
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under s145 (5) (b) of the Act; and
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
## Basis of independent examiners’ report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and the seeking of explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
## Independent examiner’s statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
1. which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the
- requirements:
- to keep accounting records in accordance with s130 of the Act; and
- to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and to comply with the accounting requirements of the Act.
- have not been met; or
2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## Structure Governance and Management
The Charity is governed by the Trust Deed of 18 January 1999. Trustees are appointed by invitation of the serving trustees.
## Public benefit
The trustees have paid due regard to the Charity Commission guidance on public benefit in organising and managing the work of the charity
## Objects and activities
In the Indian sub-continent, the housing education and relief of children who are orphaned or abandoned or rejected by their parents.
Two houses are run, known as Rainbow’s End and Sunshine Corner.
## Achievements and Performance
Both houses continue to be run by the house parents with the full time support of assistants. At 30 June 2024 there were 25 resident children under 18 years old. 11 new boys were welcomed to the home in June 2024. Residents that are over the age of 18 are on college courses supported by us, and some are also employed as assistants with responsibility for each house.
From 1[st] October 2023 management of the homes was handed over to The Indian Gospel Mission. Alpha India Foundation continues by making regular grants to The Indian Gospel Mission and still receives reports monthly from the homes’ Superintendent.
On 11 June 2024 Rev Jehoshaphat Williams, the CEO of The Indian Gospel Mission was appointed a trustee of Alpha India Foundation and he now has full executive authority to manage the homes and also play a part in the management of Alpha India Foundation.

We also continued to support a local village building relationships with them, bringing food and helping them as we are able.
## Financial Review
Funds continue to be received towards the Charity’s work and amounts are transferred to India not only to support the children now in the care of adopted ‘parents’ but also for any capital projects. The trustees are grateful to all those who have contributed, making the work of the charity possible.
With fund raising, particularly the amazing jig saw fayre that raised over £3000 for us. Sadly there are no more jig saw fayres planned and so we need to increase the giving somehow to compensate for that. With AIF sending grants in advance to IGM a small deficit has arisen this year.
We continue to look at every opportunity to raise funds from a variety of sources. As a policy the trustees aim to maintain 3 months running costs of the home in the account and this has been achieved this year.
## Plans for future periods
We consistently need to maintain and encourage sponsors to give regularly in order to meet the rising regular running costs. This is an increasing challenge and there are increasing needs for maintenance on or buildings and equipment adding to this challenge
We look to maintaining our support for individuals and the village as mentioned above. We will also continue to support our older children in order to give them a good start in the adult world according to their needs for training.
