**Objects:** THE EXHIBITIONS SHALL BE AWARDED TO BOYS AND GIRLS RESIDENT IN THE BOROUGH OF HIGHAM FERRERS WHO, IN THE OPINION OF THE GOVERNORS, ARE IN NEED OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR THE PURPOSE OF ATTENDING A SECONDARY SCHOOL, BUT NOT TO ANY CANDIDATE  (EXCEPT AS IN THIS SCHEME PROVIDED) WHO ARE AND HAVE FOR NOT LESS THAN TWO YEARS BEEN IN ATTENDANCE OT PUBLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS IN THE SAID BOROUGH , AND SUBJECT TO THIS PREFERENCE THE EXHIBITIONS SHALL BE AWARDED AS FAR AS POSSIBLE  TO BOYS AND GIRLS ALTERNATELY.

**Activities:** Originally the purpose was to assist children up to the age of 13 years resident in Higham Ferrers with the cost of moving into secondary education but this is no longer feasible and for a number of years the funds have been used to assist the primary schools in the town with the provision of additional items and equipment which they are unable to provide within their normal budgets.
