| Summary of the main achievements of the charity, identifying the difference the charity’s work has made to the circumstances of its beneficiaries and any wider benefits to society as a whole. |
Para 1.20 | 1.1. Please see the accounts, CC16a section A3, for the total amount spent on each category. 1.2. Provision of Food • Food bags were supplied only to the poorest families which are in the indigenous people groups who happen to live in remote regions that are not easy to access. 1000 food bags to the Lenca, 350 to the Tolupan, and a further 100 to another group in the south. Plus biscuits and juice for the children. • A total of 85300 children’s meals were provided through 2 church based |
-
feeding centres throughout the whole year.
-
• At 6 schools, a total of 61600 meals were provided for school children, during term time. This meets the nutritional needs of the children furthering good attendance and learning.
-
• At Vicente College in the capital, Tegucigalpa, a total of 23200 meals were supplied to 150 students over an 8 month period.
-
• Food was provided for children’s parties: 1400 meals for Christmas parties, and 450 for Day of the Child parties.
-
Thus the total number of meals provided for children during the year approximates to 173000.
1.3. Education Sponsorship
- 1238 children were sponsored allowing them to attend school. This sponsorship allows the each child to access the state schools. This sponsorship may take the form of uniforms, exercise books, pens, crayons etc. according the child’s needs as they progress through primary and secondary education. Without this sponsorship these children would not be able to attend state schooling and is thus very good value for money.

-
2 toilets and septic tanks were supplied for 2 families.

children’s diets. The children also learn about animal husbandry.
1.6. Horticulture
-
1636 fruit trees were supplied. Types: Lemon, Mango, Papaya, Avocado, Guava, Orange, (varieties: Victoria, Valencia, Mandarin). These are a longer term investment, as although these take time to come to maturity, they then provide nutritious fruit for many years.
-
£2300 was spent on seeds: sweet corn, beans and a wide variety of vegetables for both cooking and salads. Given to both schools and families.
1.7. Supporting Schools
-
A large classroom was under construction at the Chiquistepe School. Not fully completed during the financial year. Also a metal safety rail and concrete floor needs completion.
-
3 school mini libraries, 3 bookcases, and 788 books supplied.
1.8. Water Projects
- Two water storage tanks of 20,000 gallon (91,000 litre) each were being constructed at Yarula to benefit the local indigenous Lenca peoples. Almost completed in the current financial year. The water comes from local springs.
1.9. Other
-
Money from a specific donation was given to buy medical supplies, so that an operation could take place for a single mother with two children.
-
Finances were provided to buy wood, varnish and paint to refurbish the tables that are used by the children for dining, at the church in La Ceiba. The original metal framed tables were sent out by the Trust in the containers over 10 years ago.
-
To assist in the processing of the Charity’s accounts in Honduras, a
