SORP reference

|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|**1.1. Please see the accounts, CC16a section A3,**
**for the total amount spent on each**
**category.**
**1.2. Provision of Food**
•
3824 food bags at a cost of £38,240
were supplied to families. [This was
due to the great need in the poorest
families. Hondurans were still
struggling after the extended Covid
lockdowns in the 2nd half of 2022].
Fuel and delivery costs were
additional.
•
At Macuelizo School, due to the great
need of these children, we support
the dining room so that they can
provide meals three days a week. This
meets the nutritional needs of the
children furthering good attendance.
•
Each month food is provided to the
two feeding centres we support, one
in Pedrigal and the other in La Ceiba,
on the north coast. £800 per month.
•
Food was supplied to The Vicente
College near the capital, Tegucigalpa.
•
Food for lunch time meals was also
supplied to the schools we support.
•
Christmas party dinners were
provided for 1870 children.
**1.3. Education Sponsorship**
•
Nearly 3000 children were sponsored
allowing them to attend school. This
sponsorship allows the each child to
access the state schools. This sponsorship
provides: the exercise books, pens,
crayons etc. without which these children
would not be able to attend state
schooling and is thus very good value for
money.
**1.4. Basic Housing**
•
10 basic houses were completed during
the year. In the Valle area.|
|---|---|---|

## **1.5. Poultry**

- Hens were bought for the school hen houses, which had been built by parents and school PTAs . Eight hens for the Buena Vista and 10 for Liquidombar schools.

## **1.6. Horticulture**

- 359 fruit trees were supplied to the Lenca people.

- 400 fruit trees were supplied to colleges.

- 200 fruit trees were supplied families in Pedrigal.

- 180 fruit trees were supplied to the Tolupan people.

- Further fruit trees were supplied to the College at Guaimaca and primary schools.

## **1.7. Supporting Schools**

- A schools central library was created in the Valle area. Repairs to the classroom ceiling walls, upgrading of electrics and fitting of shelves were needed as well as books. This was funded from monies raised at the 50 years of the Honduras Trust celebration at Spondon.

- Paint was provided for the kitchen walls at Guanacaste School.

- Guaimaca College domestic science room was furnished with: a cooker, fridge, liquidiser and basic cooking items such as pans, bowls utensils etc. Material and sewing supplies were also bought for the sewing department. These were from a one off gift.

- We provided a second hand refurbished cooker for Guanacaste kitchen to provide for the children’s dining room.

- During the year a much needed classroom was built at the school at Macuelizo. [Due to the efforts of the Trust, in 7 years this school has grown from non-existent to 190 children. The school is in the Valle area and serves the poorest children, some walking for over 2 hours to get to school.]

**1.8. Water Projects**

- A 20,000 gallon water supply tank was built Yarula to benefit the local indigenous Lenca peoples.

- **1.9. Other** • Money from a specific donation was given to buy medical supplies, so that an operation could take place for a lady with three children.

- • Finances were provided to buy wood, varnish and paint to refurbish the tables that are used by the children for dining, at the church in La Ceiba. The original metal framed tables were sent out by the Trust in the containers.
