Achievements and performance
THE CHRISTMAS 2023 TRIP TO MOLDOVA The trip started on the evening of 29th December, with the first pit stop at Severington, Kent to pick up customs paperwork. It would also be the first small hurdle to overcome for the team, with a clip breaking on the battery of the artic unit, meaning it was going nowhere. Luckily Mr Poland (another driver from Poland) saved the day with a spare clip, which could be used before a proper repair was done another day. The journey could then continue, through Eurotunnel and across Europe.
New Years Eve was spent in Romania, before entering into Moldova and 10 days there, visiting many villages and schools, as well as an older persons home and children's home. Santa made an appearance at each school to provide gifts for the children and the team hand delivered food parcels around the villages. Bulk food was also delivered to the Ukraine distribution centre in Balti.
The artic lorry contained 26 pallets of medical supplies in the form of masks, syringes and needles and these were delivered to 22 hospitals and medical centres across the country, see map at the bottom of the page for the distribution locations.
lulia and Viad (photo below) joined the team for a day or so, lulia doing a sterling job of being Santa and Vlad the snowman.
Half way through the time in Moldova the snow arrived, which did not prevent anything being delivered, it just added to the atmosphere of Christmas but it was very cold.

Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achievements of the charity PROJECT SUCCESS IN MOLDOVA 2024 during the year During August 2024, a team of 18 volunteers ventured over to Moldova from Northern Ireland, England and Sweden in a minibus, 2 lorries, a van and a motorhome. The aim of the two weeks was to create indoor bathrooms in two schools in the villages of Bursuceni and Moara de Piatra. Neither school had indoor toilets for the teachers or children to use. Week one would be in Bursuceni, Singerei District, with day one stripping wallpaper from the walls and painting the old classroom, following other preparation works already completed by Romeo and his mini team. The wooden floor had already been removed and concrete laid, along with floor tiles, and all the waste pipes for the toilets laid under the floor. Construction of the timber framed partition wall quickly followed, to turn one room into two. The plumbing team would get cracking with installing the toilets and urinals, whilst the electricians started to run wires and wire up the water boiler, hand driers and new lighting.
The team worked at pace to ensure everything was completed in 4 days, so the team could then move ono Moara de Piatra. Alongside the project, another team would set up two shops, one in Bursuceni and one in the neighbouring village of Slobozia-Magura for the locals to come and choose clothing, bedding, blankets etc. We found that bedding, towels and blankets were the most popular, so would encourage you all to donate these items for the future. Outside the septic tank was installed, with help from a local digger to prepare the main hole and channels, whilst the team laid the external water pipes and lined up the tank.
Before departing each of the schools the teachers laid on a great spread of local foods for the team to relax and enjoy.
-
Food parcels were delivered around both villages, to the elderly during some very hot 35+ degree days. TEECH would like to thank the following for donations and/or discounts on supplies: e Many individuals who donated clothing and other items e Tekflo — for a discount on hand driers e BK Styr, Sweden for a lot of electrical supplies e Elite Truck and Trailer for support with MOT and servicing of the lorries
-
e SLP Autos for the free MOT and servicing of the Van e John Grose, Ford, Ipswich for the loan of the minibus. e Alexander Cleghorn for the boarding used to create the dividing walls
-
e J Gard & Sons for the timber used to create the dividing walls
-
e Sri Sathya Sai Organisation for food and toiletry donations e Skanda Vale for donations of food e Vishal at UCH logistics for aid picks ups and storage.
