ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS

The Trustees met 4 times during the year, in January, March, May and September, with the majority of these being on-line. The Trust continues to administer the payment of the entire diocesan quota for the Parish of the Icknield Way Villages (“the Parish”), receiving for this purpose donations from individuals, contributions from each of the seven district churches of the Parish, and the proceeds of various fund raising events.

The Trust is fortunate to be able to maintain a part-time Parish Manager and the parish office. This serves a vital role in providing a contact point for the community. During 2020 the Trust benefited from a period of rent relief from the landlord and also funds from HMRC’s furlough scheme (Job Retention Scheme). Additionally the Trust supports the rector’s expenses and provides resources associated with the Sunday services, together with the wider mission of the church in the Parish.

Despite the Covid-19 pandemic Parish activity has continued all year, utilising a range of talents across the Parish to operate a range of virtual activities and services. With the cancellation of all physical gatherings and groups individual contributions were made from many sources with readings and prayers contributed from across the congregation. The Parish Band has been a huge success and invested considerable time to record virtual hymns and songs of worship.

The village web continued production, albeit in a reduced format, for the year.

Fundraising moved on-line and support came from a number of sources during the year. We are truly grateful to all who supported the vital yet virtual work of the Parish Trust.

Support for the work of the Trust meant that we were able to fully meet our Diocesan Quota for 2020. This was a wonderful achievement in difficult times.

RESERVES POLICY .

The Trust has designated funds set aside to replace equipment when needed. There are also restricted funds to be used for the employment of a youth worker (not used in 2020), for funds donated for the benefit of third parties and for the choir. The Trust has a policy of keeping reserves for general expenditure under 10% of annual expenditure, believing church members will increase their giving if an urgent need arises.

The General Fund showed a surplus in 2020 of £223.25.

Total funds at 31[st] December 2020 amounted to £13,670.21 (2019: £12,816).

GRANT MAKING POLICY .

The Trust has the power to make donations to any person or organisation existing for the advancement of the Christian religion in any part of the world.

The Icknield Way Parish Trust.

Independent Examiner’s report to the Trustees.

I report on the accounts of the Icknield Way Parish Trust for the year ended 31 December 2020, which are presented as:

 Accounts on pages 7 to 10

Respective responsibilities of the Trustees and the Examiner

The Trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The Trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an Independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to

 Examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;

 Follow procedures laid down in the general directions given by the Charity Commissioners section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act; and

Basis of Independent Examiners Statement.

My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as Trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in a full audit, and consequently I do not express an opinion on the accounts.

Independent Examiner’s Statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:
