RADFORD CARE ROUP Gl TERED NUMBER: O 5802 PORT RTH FTHETR EES ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE Charitable activities Following on from the changes highlighted last year, recovery of Day Services cnntinues lo be slow. The c4)st of living crisis continues to impact individuals and statutory services, namely Nottingham City Council ('WCC") who are still accountable to Government Commissioner5 and are undergoin8 a thorough spcnding review and a rcview of all service4 including Adult Social Care. Having a duty to provide social care services, NCC have slarted to work with more Stringent rnethods to cul Costs and consider how to deliver seNices that are "fit for purpose" in the future. For seNices like ours. il rA)ntinues to have an impact on our in￿rne through fvnded placements &s very few older people are refetTed to Day Services compared to Previous years. From the very outset of the Section 114 declaration from NCC, we have regularly engaged lo offer SUPPOTL solulions and continue to provide care for those (now fewer) day pla￿rnents here ai Radford Care G￿Up. Sadly, 8 lack of engagement froyn NCC has meant we are still unsure of the future of Older Persons Day Servicc5. However, we still wntinue io engage at every opportunity with commissioners and heads of se)vi¢e stating our willingness to work more closely and offerin8 support. with Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Care Association (NCA) being our vehicle for receiving any updates and sharing ideas. We have suggested a joined-up approach for older ciliz¢ns with learning disabilities And an offer of w¢r respiie, as well as a place for older people should the decision be made to close NCC'S facilities. Rather than awail NCC decisions, we have forged ahead with the 'respile offerf and have been successful in securing funds from the Boois Charitable Trust, Lady Hind Trust, Thomas FaTr Char¢ty and Souter Charitable Trust to offer placernents. Working to more robusi timelines 10 plan our finances, we weTe able io pelsuade NCC to review our contract earlier than the previous year (when a l-year cxlension had been granted). This year we were gr•mted a 2-year cxtcnsion to the day serrfiL% ntracL assuring us that day placements will continue until February 2027. Continuing to take a proactive opproach by offtring placements for 'self-funders" half of those attending do so on this basis. A successfvl bid has also secured funds for 5 spK)nsoTed placements through the Skerritt Trust. Alihough income from charitable aclivilies was slightly lower than that achieved in the previous financial yetr, income from donalions was 2.5 limes thai received lasi year. and fundraising income quadNpled. Sincere thanks go lo The Jone5 Trust, CRS Fund, Barratt Homes. Winifred Eileen Kemp TrnsL J N Derbyshi￿. The TTUStees also wish io thank our sthff, volunteers, %rvice Use￿ and fri¢nds for all their hard work. dedication and ftirbearnnce during yet anoiher challenging year. Funding continues to be rKeived for our tkmentia information Progrnmme (DIP) and the current l￿ntract is to be revi¢wed and potentially changed to a sub-contraci with the Alzheimerfs Society. Currently offering support for carers in th¢ County only, funds are being sought elsewhere to supp)rt Care￿ in the City. Our Artspeak projecl ended in May 2024. With the goodwill of Radford Care Group, a local Art Group continues to use 25 P￿)spect Street to meet and make usc of materials left over frorn ihc projeci. A small hire charge may be introduced, necess￿, and the moniloring of group SIZE will dictate this. W¢ hav¢ noL however, been successful in finding anyone lo regularly reni our avoilable office space or have anyone requiring the building as a whole, being another ￿nSquenCe of limited incornc I funds available to individuals, grouwJ and businesses. A Faith Group wntinues to hire our space. bui now on Sundays only. We are optimistic that through our tireless partnership working, our Space will be useful to other chaTities or organisation5 in the future. The offer of day care 4 days a wcek (until referrals improve) and maintsining more manageable stsff l ovethcad costs continues and we continue to keep costs low by employing our own cook, keeping stsff employed on a part lime basis and, to supp)rt serrfice delivery, have partnered with Right at Home (Trlottingham North) during the l&st quarter of the financial year, who provide 'bank stsff to support our team, thus maintainin8 Wst flexibility. The Trustees have also undertaken a financial risk &sscssrnent that examines Potenti￿ liabilities {stsff. contracts, leases) and assets (knth current and fixed). Furtherniore, the Tnjstees have considered the plans for growth and the associated financial implications. The Trustees have, therefore, identified the need to retain an unrestricted ￿nd of at least 3 months, unrestricted expenditure. REPORT F THE INDEPENDEKfA ROUP DIT TO THE MEMBERSOF Our responsibilities for the Audi¢ of the finncial ststernents Our objectives are to obtain reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements a5 a whole are free from material misststemenL whether due to fiaud or error, and to issue a Report of the Independent Auditors that includes our opinion. Reasonable assurance is a high level of assurance, but is Iiol a guarantee that an audit conducled in accordance wlih ISAS (UK) will always detect a material misslatemenl when it exists. Misslatements can arise from hud or error and are considered rnaterial if, individually or in the aggregate. Ihey could reasonably be expec￿1 to influence the economic decisions of users tsken on the basis of th¢s¢ financihl staiements. The extent to which our procedures a￿ capable of dele¢ling irregularlties, including fraud is detailed below: IrregulaTities. including frdud, are instances of nonryC4)mpliance with laws and regulations. We design procedures in line with our responsibililies, outlined above, to delect material misslatemenls in respect of irregulariti￿, including frdud. Thc specific procedures for this engagement and the extent to which these are capable of detecting irregularities, including fraud is detailed b¢low: - Exercise professional judgment and maintain professional scepticism throughoul the planning and perforniance of the audit. Identify and assess the risks of mateTial misstalemenl of the financial stalements, whether due to fraud or ernr, design and perfomi audil procedures Tvsponsive to those risks, and obtsin audit evidence that is sufficieni and appropriaie to provide a b￿LS for our opinion; Obtsin an understanding of ihe internal control relevanl io the audil in order to design audil procedures ihal are appropriate in the circumstances, but not for th¢ purpose of expressing an opinion on the effectiveness of the charity, internal control; Evaluate the appropriateness of accounting policies used and the reasonableness of acwunting estimates and related disclosures made by mana8ement' Make enquiries of management and ihose Charged with governance of any instances of nOn￿mplIanc% wilh law5 and regulations and of any a¢ftMI and potential liligaiion and claims,. Review financial statement disclosures to supporting documentation to assess compliance with applicable laws and regulalions Because of ihe inherent limitations of an audit, there is a risk that we will not delect all irregulariiies, including Ihose leading io a material misstalemenl in the financial staternents or nonvcompliance with regulation. This risk increases Ihe more that compliance with a law or re8ulation is removed from the events and trdll5actions reflected tn ihe financial statements, as we will be less likely to become aware of inswices of non-compliance. The risk is also greater regarding Ir￿guIar7¢1¢s occurring due lo frnud rnther than error, as fraud involves intentional concealrnent, forgery. collusion, omission or misrepresentslion. A further deseripiion of our responsibilities for the audit of the financial s¢atemenis is locaied on the Financial Reporting Council's website at www.frc.or8.uklauditor5responsibililies.
