Th¢ COVID-19 pandemic eoThtinu¢d to have a si8nificant imp¥t on our actiwties during the year. We have t￿¢ seen th¢
nutnbers of people rettThiThg to day services as we foraThJ this has an irnpa￿ on our income.
Whilst we had a steady in¢rease in ￿ferra1$. many 5ervic¢ users have lost coThfidence and have not re-enga8ed Wilh
eommunity seivices. Many deciding ￿ remain inthy)T5 or withthawn from S￿la] engagement - siill shielding themselves
and others. Other5 have unfortunately tnoved into long kn Care or their needs have incre8se41 to the point of being
hospitslised or are relying far mor¢ ￿ heahh service5.
As referrdls are delayed due to ¢hronic S￿la] ￿¢ Chall￿g<S and delays in hospithl dI￿ha￿t, we have wot*ed hard to
promoie our setrvices in the eommunity. Sadty. for some. due ￿ a8e and illne5& thcir time with u5 has been limited. All
increasing the costs io ourselves in ￿mpleting more care plarts ond gettin8 to know individuals for them to unfortunately
move on, or worse. Overall, the Situation is improving more ￿ a'rtvolving ￿. whilst sthftrtory s¢tvic¢s ¢ontinu¢
to srru881e.
The lack of refcrrnls * an earli¢T Stage. when we Can hav¢ impxt on an individual. has been a ¢hallen8e to
overcorne. Earlier In￿r￿￿tIOnS will sav¢ local authoTities and the NHS mojbey in the longer iemj.
We have been consthntly Irying to ￿gage with ¢(*nmission¢ts and Iw*ls of suvice to $U8gesr ways of workin8 closer
tog¢ther and to off¢r 5UPf*rt
We were being included for any capacity funding and sttff retention grants given by ¢entra] government but ongoing
5UPPOrt is now minimal. The 1&5t fitlancial SuP￿rt via the City Council was from the covid isolation support grant in
May 2022 ¢nablin8 US to supJy)rt those wtK* Still remained * hom¢, WLabl¢ to access the ¢entr¢ ond relyin8 on carv
support.
The other new chaJlen8e by our charity was the cost of livin8 increases. Nottin8ham5hire County Council has
p¥ovided quarterly $uprKJrt wilh th¢ in¢reas¢ in energy costs. fm Oaob¢r 2022 to Mar¢h 2023 bui there w&8 no sueh
support from NoNingham City Covn¢il. Other fLnan¢ial supp)rt for th¢ eost of living in¢r¢a5¢ ¢ame from the Asda
Foundation.
Durin8 the year. cncoura8ing financial s11p￿rt came from the Edward Gostling Foundation. L4dy Hind TrnsL J N
Derbyshire Trust and Thom&8 F￿CharIty. for which we are extrty￿¢1Y 8r4tefvl.
The Trustees wish to thank our staff, volunttet5. service wers and friends for all of their hard work and forbearance

Despite being Iwated in the City and deliverin8 thi5 suvic¢ ￿ City reStden￿C￿ru& we have still received no funding
from the City Primary ca￿ Networks or Citycaff, (d¢spt* numemus requests), who previously supported the Dtp
berween 2014 and 2017. How¢ver, programmes wete delivued in the City Orte agaln durin8 2022123. due to the
'goodwill' of Radford Car¢ Group and other donots.
Our Artspeak project continued to deliver art. activilies and friendship for Nottinglwm's 60+ community workshops,
onlirt¢ a¢tiviiie$ and organised ViSiL8. The funder5. The Big Lollery. have now exlended this project th May 2024.
Rental income continued ￿ i* ret¢ived Th¢ Rainlx)w Pareni Carers Forum until Novemb¢r 2022. with the office
spa¢¢ as well as the main ha]1 in the building being available for hio i￿lUding over weekends.
Despiie redu¢¢d attendec Thumbers whith continues to be as a r¢suli of the ￿demiC. Radford Care Group continues to
suprK)rt up to 70 elders a week along with over 150 carus, both indirECtly thrnugh day care seTvi¢es provided to their

challenges faced in the year but reversing the SI￿p]Us (£35.263) that arose IJ the previous y¢ar. as w&$ expectrd. The
significant reStric￿d fund loss for the y¢ar has sirnply arisen du¢ ￿ th¢ sp¢nding of ArtSpe¥k and DIP monies ttceived
previously. In the case of ArtSpe¥K the net SPUMI in the year was £100.015. &8 project delivery continued thd
tncrea5ed. pandemic.

The Trustees have reviewed th¢ CItari￿$ ne¢d for res¢rve5 ID line with the guidw issued by the Charity CommisS10n.
The Trusiees have also undertaken a financial ri$k &sessmeni that examines poiential liabiliiies (stsff. contracts and
le8se5) and as5els O>oth current and fixed). Furthern)ore. the Trnsiees have considered future plan5 aDd the associated
financial implications. The Tntsttts have, ther¢fore. identif￿d the need io r¢tain an unrestricted fi]nd of at least 3
months unrestricted expendiwr¢. This reserve fimd will be used to safeguard the Charity's s¢rvice ￿MMItMent in the

FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS
As a well<sthblished care provider. chaTtry and r￿-pr0fft making 0[g￿ls0110￿ Radford Care Group continues to offer
high quality seryices at valu¢ foT rnoney prt£es. Furthermore, we wntinue to develop plans to grow and offtr a wider
range of improv¢d 5erYices io a wider group of older citizens and the wtder community in our new, puw¢-built
faciliry. New opp)rnmities continue to include pam¢r5hip engagement with My Journey, a eommunity inves￿ent
ompany providing alternative transN>rt solutions for our rnembers. Ca￿le CavendislL a social impaci company, have
also been supporting us and this continued through into 2023. Their aim is to impmye p¢opl¢'s lives, by supporting the
busin¢5s community and the Volunt￿ sector to grow and d¢velop, enhawing the s(Kial and economic Conditions for
th¢ wider community and we l(K)k fonvard to workin8 With ihem. Self-Direcied Suppon continues io bring many
challenge& espec?ally given the ongoing cuts to Nottingham City Council's annual budge( but th¢ experience and
quality services provided by Radford CaT¢ Group will th)sure that we remain ideally placed to capitalise on the further
OPPOrnmities ihat will follow as systems are reviewed and change. Radford C4re Group th¢r¢fore looks forward to

activilie& so that less reliance is pl￿ed on SDS tncome but that the core charitable objectives are maintained. The CEO
working with th¢ Centre Manager, and with the supprt of the TnL8iees aThJ membe￿ are already aciioning asF¢¢ts of
this plan.
With good business acumen we aim to tske ihe cTrwity forwrf delivering our exemplary services lo the ¢ommunity
and using our new building io engage rn0￿ c105¢1y with the community, in turn raising our profile r¢venu¢$.
Finally. il is with greai sadness that we announce the rec¢ni passing of our founder and lifelong President. Paul¢en
thvi¢s MBE, ai th¢ age of 97. Pauleen w&% the initial driving force bebind our charity and has been involved for oveT
50 years. She will be sadly missed.
