I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31/12/2020 

- **Responsibilities and** As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation **basis of report** of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

**Independent** I have completed my examination.  I confirm that no material matters have **examiner's statement** come to my attention (other than that disclosed below *) in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: 

- accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act or 

- the accounts do not accord with the accounting records 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

It<br>also provides grants to the German Choir<br>in London, which performs sacred music in<br>London’s German churches and other<br>concert venues.<br>Grants are also made to charities<br>supporting the homeless and adults with<br>learning difficulties.<br>At the trustees’ meeting held on 4th<br>February 2020 the ongoing grants in<br>furtherance of the activities detailed above<br>were discussed and agreed.<br>The grant application process was to some<br>extent disrupted during the year by the<br>impact of Covid 19 and the Trustees expect<br>that certain regular requests which would<br>normally have arisen in 2020 will be<br>deferred to 2021. The trustees were able to<br>meet in person once during the year but<br>have endeavoured to ensure that<br>beneficiaries of the Trust have not suffered<br>as a result of Covid disruptions.|





|||A grant of £300,000 was made to the<br>German YMCA in London to support it<br>through a period of acute financial difficulty<br>resulting from the pandemic and to ensure<br>its continued liquidity. In making this<br>substantial grant the Trustees were mindful<br>of the historic connection between the St<br>Paul’s Church and the German YMCA, and<br>the many shared goals of the two<br>institutions.|

It also<br>provides grants to the German Choir in<br>London, which performs sacred music in<br>London’s German churches and other<br>concert venues.<br>Grants are also made to charities<br>supporting the homeless and adults with<br>learning difficulties.<br>A grant of £2,500 was made in response to<br>the Emergency Appeal from the Historic<br>Chapels Trust, to be applied for the upkeep<br>of St George’s German Lutheran Church in<br>the City of London (which is now the care<br>of the Historic Chapels Trust) and which<br>had originally taken in the remaining<br>congregation of St Pauls after the<br>destruction of the St Paul’s Church building<br>during the Second World War.<br>Ongoing projects:<br>A grant of £10,000 to Glass Door, a<br>London Homeless charity sponsored by<br>and supported by local churches.<br>A grant of £10,000 to Borderline, a charity<br>supporting homeless with a Scottish Origin.<br>In making this grant the Trustees were<br>conscious of the historical support given to<br>the fledgling St Paul’s Church by the<br>Church of Scotland.<br>A grant of £8,832 to support two volunteers<br>at Q.V.S.R, a retirement home for<br>international seafarers in East London.<br>In total the grants made were £331,332.<br>The trust will continue to make grants along<br>similar lines in the future and is considering<br>how it might broaden the scope of its<br>donations. The continuing level of dividend|





income and the level of the charity’s reserves will enable this to be achieved despite a continuing low level of interest earned on bank deposits.

Of particular interest is the potential for working with churches supporting the homeless in London and suitable new projects are being sought.
