Activities
Establishment of an Emmaus Community for Homeless People at The Birches Ribbleton Lane Preston purchased by the Charity in January 2007. Warehouses and shops are operated by the Community to help fund the costs.
Objects: 3.1 The Alleviation And Relief Of Poverty, Hardship And Distress Arising Therefrom To Those In Need Without Distinction, And In Furtherance Of Those Objects But Not Otherwise;3.2 To Provide Accommodation, Or Assistance In Such Provision, Community And Employment For The Poor And Homeless In Lancashire And Such Other Places As May Seem Appropriate From Time To Time.3.3 To Adopt And Abide By Those Principles Of The Emmaus Movement As Published In The Universal Manifesto Of The Emmaus Movement And From Time To Time By Emmaus As Are From Time To Time Recognised By English Law As Being Charitable.3.4 To Provide Education And Training And Employment Training For The Beneficiaries Of The Charity As Appropriate And Relevant To Their Respective Needs And As The Charity May From Time To Time Decide Appropriate Or Expedient With The Purpose Inter Alia Of Developing Skills To Enable Them To Gain Employment.3.5 To Educate The Public In The Needs Or Poor And Marginalised People Through Whatever Means Of Publicity Or Education The Charity Deems Fit.3.6 To Support The Work Of Other Emmaus Communities Or Other Agencies In The Relief Of Poverty And Homelessness Whether In The United Kingdom Or Elsewhere In The World And In Particular (but Without Limitation) By The Exchange Of Resources, Information And Expertise With Other Emmaus Communities Worldwide.3.7 To Recruit And Train Workers To Support The Furtherance Of The Objects.3.8 To Fulfil Such Other Purposes As May From Time To Time Be Recognised By English Law As Being Charitable And Which The Charity Shall From Time To Time Determine.
