GOVERNANCE
2.1 It has been another busy year for the charity with a change of chair and several trustees retiring. The
Governance review has been completed to prepare for the changes that will come as a result of the new
Charity Governance Framework and the changes to the Statement of Recommended Prathce1SORP261 due
to be implemented for accounting periods commencing on or after l January 26. The trustees undertook
trustee training in July 25 to refresh their knowledge and a skills audit which will ensure that we have the
right skills and experience on the board for the next phase in its development. We have completed a full
tinancial year operating our accounts on the digital accounting platform Xero.
2.2 As part of the recommendation of the governance review the RCAM Trust will convert to a Charitable
Incorporated Organisation ICIOI. The new entity, to be called The RCAM Charity, has been set up119 February
261 and all assets will transfer to this CIO as at 31 March 26. The RCAM Trust will close once this Annual
Report has been finalised by the Trustees, signed bythe Chair on their behalf and uploaded onto the Charities
Commission Webslte.
2.3 General Eastman KBE retired as Chair on 4 June 2025 and Colonel Barringer MVO MBE stepped up as interim
Acting Chair. Mr Nik Preston retired as a trustee on 4 April 2025. Mr Graham Norton was appointed as a
Trustee on 5 April 2025. Warrant Officer Class One David Hatton retired as Corps Sgt Major on 2 July 2025
and Warrant Officer Class One Grant Sewell-jones was appointed as Corps Sgt Major ITrusteel. On 13
November 2025 Mr Vince Eckerman retired as a Trustee. The Charity operated with just six trustees for the
majority of this reporting period whilst it undertook a ski115 audit and selection process for new trustees.
Three new Trustees were selected but they will not serve with the RCAM Trust and will be appointed to the
new RCAM Charity in May 2026 a5 the RCAM Trust transfers to a CIO and changes Its name. The Trust thanks
all outgoing trustees for their dedication and service.

OBJEcfs OF THE CHARiri
3.1 Object l. to promote the efficiency of the army and in particular that of the Royal Corps of Army Music (the
Corps) in such ways as the trustee5 from time to time think fit.
3.2 Object 2. to foster esprit de corps and comradeship between all serving and former members of the Corps.
3.3 Object 3. to relieve either generally or individually serving and former members of the Corps and their
dependants who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress Ibeneficiariesl.
3.4 Object 4. to promote the education, training. physical fitness and efficiency of members of the Corps.
3.5 The Trust is open for membership to serving members of The Royal Corps of Army Music who subscribe one
day's pay a year to the Charity through the Day's Pay Giving Scheme. On joining a member becomes a 'life'
member, eligible for welfare and benevolence whilst serving or in retirement. Subscriptions are only
collected from serving members of the Corps, but donations are welcome from all retired members and
establishments.
ANNUAL REPORT
4.1 The Trust has three funds - an unrestricted General Fund and two restricted funds,. Army Sports Control
Board which provides grants for Corps sporting activity and the RCAM Trust's Enterprise funds. The latter of
these will close end of FY 25126. The report also shows custodian funds Ipresented as restricted) managed
through these accounts for the British Army Jazz Orchestra, the British Army Brass Band, the Director of
Music's Presentations, Kneller Hall Club and the Roots Memorial Prize funds and the Army Musicians
Association. The British Arffly jazz Orchestra, the British Army Brass Band, Director of Music's Presentations
and RCAM Enterprise funds have been closed as at 31 Mar 26. The funds have been transferred to the
Unrestricted General Fund during the financial year, this was unanimously agreed by the Board of Trustees
on 7 May 26.
The RCAM Trust Enterprises
4.2 RCAM Trust Enterprises Ltd Icompany number 159126171 is solely owned by RCAM Trust and any profits will
be gifted back to the RCAM Trust. A loan of up to £150,000 was agreed by the Trustees to set up Royal Corps
of Army Music Trust Enterprise Ltd. £1,000 of this loan has been made during the last reporhnE period. with
a further £39,000 paid in this reporting period. The remaining £IIO,O(X) has been paid in April and May 2026
but does not fall into this reporhng period. Selection and appointment of a CEO has taken place and he is
expected to start by August 2026.
The Corp5 Journal
4.3 The journal of The Royal Corps of Army Music, 'Fanfare" is published annually and distributed to all members
of the Corps, Army Musician's Association and The Kneller Hall Club and is available to those who have an
interest in the Corps or military music and is essential for communicating with serving and veteran members.
Fanfare is circulated as an EFlip Book with only 200 copies now printed in hard copy. This year £47 was
received in subscriptions for the journal and £100 for advertising. Production costs were £11,574, this
significant increase was due to two editions being published within the FY as publication had fallen behind.
Financial Report
4.4 The overall general fund income for this period was £158,913, a small increase of 6% on the previous year's
amount of £147,385, showing an increase of £11,528. The total Trust income was £140,748 lunrestrictedl,
an increase on last year's figure of £127.573.

4.5 The overall expenditure for this period was £102,055 a SiEnilicant reduction on last year's £255.481. Even
when due consideration is given to one off expenditure in FY 24125 on RCAM 30 celebration51£77,8491 and
grant to the Museum of Army Music1£20,CH)01 the expenditure is still down £55,577.
4.6 The redurtion in expenditure has resulted in a surplus of £56,858 compared to last year's deficit of £108,096.
4.7 The Statement of Financial Activity shows Subscriptions (Day's Payl was £74,319 up £1,769 from £72,550.
Merchandise expenditure was £2,443 a significant reduction of £4,019 when compared to last year's
expenditure of £6,462 this difference is mainly due to significant merchandise stock brought for the Corps
30, Anniversary in 2024.
4.8 The Trust encourages welfare grants, which are a significant means of encouraging fitness and sporting
activities through the contributions made to individuals, cost of taking part in adventure traininE and other
sporting activity. These activities develop not only part of an individual's continuous professional
development, but also the esprit de corps and moral component within the Corps and wider Army. An Army
Sports Control Board IASCBI annual grant of £15,000 was received and a total of £12.791 in grants was
provided supporting a wide variety of both individual and team sports. The ASCB grant process will change
in FY26127, grants will not be automatic and will have to be requested. Adventurous Training remains
important area of welfare support but saw just £8,500 in grants this year against £32,OCx) last year, noting
that £8,250 of this 24125 sum was returned as unsperbt funds in this FY resulting in a rurbning balance of £250
in FY 25126.
4.9 There wa5 no grant made to the Museum of Army Music in this financial year. Donations to other charities
was £4,876 and included a donation to Phyliss Tvckwell Hospice in memory of a retired officer Paul Goodwin
MBE, support to Walking Wlth the Wounded, a contribution towards the Coldstream Guards Band memorial
tablet and annual membership of the NVCO.
4.10 Benevolence grants are used to support Army musicians and their immediate dependants who require
assistance through illness, disability or other personal conditions. Generally, grants are only a part of the
individual's needs and are made after in depth liaison with external service charities through their
caseworkers. Expenditure in this area has decreased by £10,683 to £12,124. A 53% reduction from last year's
£22,807. This decrease is further increased by the return of £5,500 in an unused grant for Medical equipment
that was ultimately provided by the NHS.
Reserves Policy
4.11 The Royal Corps of Army Music Trust's Funds are generated primarily through donations from the One Day's
Pay Scheme and investments income. Trustees are satislied that the Trust funds remain sufficient to continue
to support the objectives appropriately, sustaining the efficiency of the Corps and those in need.
4.12 The Trust Reserves Policy recognises Restricted and Unrestricted funds, the latter of which include the Free
Reserves which are kept available for use in future years and include the RCAM Enterprise Trust project and
large-scale Corps events. It also considers strategic planning for catastrophic events, a planned increase in
administrative spending and a working capital to support the objects for the next five years. This is a total of
£1,358,534.
Heritage Fixture and Fittings
4.13 The Corps Trust commissioned two paintings which were completed within this reporting period. The first is
a portrait of our Colonel in Chief, HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh, £11,421, and the second a painting to
depicting the RCAM 30 Royal Dinner Night £7,910. Additionally, a Book of Remembrance was also purchased
£696.

Volunteers
4.14 RCAM Trust currently has no volunteers.
Structure, Governance and Management IGo¥ern?nce)
4.15 The Royal Corps of Army Music Trust is corbstituted by a Deed of Trust (Dated 8, January 19991 and was
entered onto the Charity Commissioners Register on 21 January 1999. On 15 October 2020, these were
amended to reflect new practices and changes to the ex-officio Chairmanship and Board membership
composition. As such it is an unincorporated association. The Board of Trustees agreed to convert RCAM
Trust to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation and the RCAM Charity la CIO) was established on 19 Feb 261.
As such, this will be the last and final Annual Report for The RCAM Trust and all assets will transfer from the
RCAM Trust to the RCAM Charity on 01 Apr 26. On completion of this report the RCAM Trust will be closed
on the Charity Commissions Online Portal.

4.16 There were no related party transactions during the year.
Investments and Cash
4.17 A total of £1,252,419 was held as investments at the end of the year an increase of £131,058 against last
year's £1,121,361. Investments consist of £633,265 with WIM Iformally Waverton Investment Management
Ltd) and £619,154 with Blackrock Armed Forces Charity Growth & Income IDistributionl Fund. Interest and
dividends payments received totalled £38,570.
4.18 All funds are managed through two bank Accounts. The primary Current Account administers the
Unrestricted Funds and Restricted Funds. The second, Special Interest Bearing Account ISIBAI provides some
additional income to the charity through interest, this year returning £307 a significant decrease on last
year's due to a lower balante maintained in this account to maximise money invested with Blackrotk and
WIM. There was £32,598 held in the primary Current Account and £20,077 in the SIBA. There is no longer
any requirement for Petty Cash as all payments can be made via bank or contactless card payments.

4.19 Royal Bank of Scotland (Holt's Military Banking).
Disbursement Policy
4.21 Disbursement for Trustee Expenses are provided in accordance with the Financial Controls policy. Trustee5
may claim back any reasonable expenses incurred whilst executing their duties and must complete the
expense form provided.
4.22 The Trustees will tontinue to welcome applications from serving and former members of the
Corps of Army Music for disbursements which fall within the Objerts of the Trust.

Year Ended 31 March 2026
I report to the charity trustees on examination of the accounts of The Royal Corps of Army Music Trust I'the
Charity") for the year ended 31st March 2025.
Responsibilities and basis of the report
As the Charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the
requirements of the Charities Act 20111"the Act").
I report in respect of my examination of the Charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act. In
carrying out my examination I have followed all applicable Dirertions given by the Charity Commission under
section 14515llbl of the 2011 Act.
Independent Examiner's Statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have tome to my attention in
connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect..
accounting records were not kept in respect of the Charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or
the attounts do not accord with those records; or
the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of
accounts set out irb the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2(X)8 other than any requirement
that the accounts give a 'true and fair view, which is not a matter considered as part of an independent
examination.
