## **The Frazer Nash Archives**
Trustees Report for the Year Ended 31st December 2020 **Objects & Activities**
The objects of The Frazer Nash Archives (the Archives) are to advance public education in the history and development of sports cars, in particular the Frazer Nash marque, and to further the study
and understanding of mechanical science with reference to specialist low volume car production. The
Archives has the foremost collection of Frazer Nash cars, memorabilia, technical drawings and company records of AFN Limited detailing the construction of these cars between 1924 and 1956
together with their prodigious success in sporting events of the period.
In the past decade, the trustees have readily accepted bequests from the family of Archie Frazer Nash. These have greatly extended the scope of the Archives holdings to include many documents and artefacts about the company producing the GN (Godfrey Nash) car, its founders and its products and activities during the period from 1911 to 1924, prior to the inception of the Frazer Nash car. Also in the bequests is considerable documentation relating to the career of Archie Frazer Nash as a consulting engineer and innovator after his disassociation from AFN Ltd in 1928, including his personal diaries from 1932 to 1957. Furthermore, donation of material from other sources relates to Frazer Nash engineering companies with which Archie Frazer Nash was associated in the years following World War II, most of which is external to the automotive sector. The Archives has embraced the interpretation of its objects to include both the GN period and Archie Frazer Nash’s post-AFN activities and routinely collects material on these subjects. It has published the definitive biography of Archie Frazer Nash covering his lifetime and career. The Archives also contains much related material of wider public interest, such as aircraft, agricultural
machinery, motorcycles and other engineered products donated at the time of formation of the Trust by the Trust’s Principal.
## **Achievements & Performance**
The Archives has made significant achievements in a number of areas in 2020 in spite of the
COVID 19 pandemic which resulted in the national lockdown and closure of the Archives. The
Trustees look forward to reopening the Archives and once again engaging with visitors and volunteers alike.
The work of preserving, cataloguing and digitising the archives collection of photographs and
documents continued to make progress. The Trustees were able to work from their homes and
a feature of 2020 was the number of queries from individuals who were researching their family history as well as Frazer Nash owners seeking car information. They were delighted with the
information which was provided from the Archives. A few cases of interest to FNCC members
were published in the Gazette.
The Archive collection remains in good condition but there was no participation in public events during the year due to the national lockdown. The Archives continued to acquire artefacts of significance during the year from various sources including the Maitland collection at auction.
## **Financial Review**
In addition to the continued maintenance of the collection and the property in which it is held, the
Archives continues to invest to facilitate virtual access and this is now available online to Trustees.
The Archives are grateful to the members of Frazer Nash; Historic BMW and Porsche Car Clubs and to individuals for their support.
## **Structure Governance and Management**
The Frazer Nash Archives is constituted and governed by Declaration of Trust dated 12th November 1998.
The trustees who served during the year are as follows:-
Louise Bunting; Peter Livesey (Chairman); John Marsh; Roger Richmond; Winston Teague; Clive Godsell; Robert Mellors, Matt Vincent.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above
charity (Ihe Trust'} for the year ended 3111212020.
Responsibilities and
basis of report
As the charty's trustees. you are responsible for the preparation of the
accounts in accordan with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011
('the Act.)
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out
under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carying OLrt my examination, I
have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission
under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent I have completed my examination. I confimi that no material matters have
examiner's ststement come to my attention in connection the examination which gives me
cause to believe that in, any material respect..
the accounting records were not kept in accordan with section 130
of the Charities Act" or
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records: or
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements
conmIng the form and Gontent of accounts set out in the Charities
(Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement
that the accounts give a 'true and fairf view which is not a matter
considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concems and have come across no other matters in connection
with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in
order to enable a woper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
