All
events are open to all and are free of
charge. We have special events to fund
raise for local charities dealing with the
homeless in Whitley Bay and raising funds
for help dogs. We supply food and financial
help to the Bay Foodbank. We support
financially a Christian Book shop based in
Whitley Bay. At Christmas we supply
families who are in difficulty with food
hampers. We regularly hold children's
events for craft making and playing. Each
year we have a day trip to a local place of
interest for families who may be otherwise
unable to visit places away from home.|

|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|We operated a warm space from October
2022 to March 2023, enabling people to
keep warm, have hot drinks, use the wi-fi
for free, enjoy various activities whilst in the
building, and although numbers were not
high, we still had regular attender each
week.
We delivered 9 hampers to families in the
Whitley Bay area who were in need of help
over Christmas. This was supported by our
local NHS trust. This enabled families to
have food and treats at Christmas they
otherwise would not have had.
Each week during term time we have a
toddler group on a Friday morning where
parents or carers can come free of charge
and meet other as a social time and get
together. This helps parents and carers
make friends and opens up opportunities
for them to attend our other church
activities.
We hold a kids club every month to allow
children from the estate to play, make
crafts and receive moral and ethical
teaching.
Each autumn we work with our local middle
school year 5 pupils to facilitate a visit to
our church as part of their national|

curriculum. Five individual classes visit the church over a week totalling about 150 pupils. Pupils are introduced to the church as “their” church as we are in the catchment area for the school. They learn that the church is a safe place for them to attend if they want to. Each year we fund a coach trip to a local place of interest such as Durham or Alnwick for people who are not in a position to afford such a trip themselves.

## **Independent examiner’s report to the trustees of Hillheads Community Church Trust**

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the Hillheads Community Church Trust for the year ended 31 March 2023.

## **Responsibilities and basis of report**

As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

## **Independent examiner’s statement**

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the Act; or

2. the accounts do not accord with those records.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
