ObJe¢tlves and actlvltles
The principle object of the charity is the promotion of full-time education by the establishment of a faith-based school or
schools in and aTound the City of Leicester.
The aims and objectives of the charity are fulfilled by the operation of Al-Aqsa School at the address (The Wayne Wa).,
L£i¢ester. LE5 4PP) provtding full-tKme education for local children.
Trn$t¢es
The charitys trustees, as al 3 1st August 2024, w'ere as follows:
Mr Ibrahim Brian Hewitt (Chair)
Shaikh Ismail Nurgat (Treasurer)
Mrs Abeda Hewitt (Bursar)
Coorban Ally Dulloo
Hon. Patron: Shaikh Tijani Gahbiche
Joint m¢etings were held by the trustees with the governors so as to reduce the need for so many meettngs, as the trnstees
forni the core of the governing body. Where necessary, the trustees met alone before or after joint rneetings to deal with
confidential, strictly trustee business. Meetlngs can and did take place online, Three meetings were held during the
academic year 2023124,
The Wayne Way sites and the ¢ontcnts therein are the onty assets owned by Al-Aqsa Schools Trust.
School structure
The schooirfrust structure remains that the Board of Thistees has legal responsibility for the operation of the Trust and
strategic planning. The Board entrusts the day-to-day affairs of the charity and school to the Head Teacher, who reports to
the Trustees. The bursar (also a tnLStee) Is part of ihe Senior Leadership Team (SLT) of the school and participates in SLT
meetings whenever possible. Three trustee5 are empowered to have a¢￿sS to the school's online banktng facilities.
The Board of Governors is based around the trustees as ex officio members with the balance of the boanl being made up of
staff and parents as well as a representative of the local community. Joint meetings are held whenever possible, w'ith the
proviso that confidential trustee issues are dealt with either inllnediately before or after the joint meeling.
As a registered clwity, the Thlstees have in place safeguards to ensure that no financial irregularities should be able to take
pl￿, insha'Allah. The general procedure for all financial transactions is that no payments are made unless and until a bone
fjde invoice is received or, in th¢ ¢&se of expenditure agreed in advance, a receipt for paymenl is produced by the person
who has made the purchase. However, it must be noted that all petty cash transa¢tions must also be approved and recorded
by the Hcad Teacher no matter how small the arnount. When structural or other work has to be done to the school buildin&
or bulky items have to be purchased, quotations are sought and the best value (not necess￿l1Y the cheapest) quote is
generalty used.
A senior member of stsff remains designated as GDPR and Examinations Officer to ensure compliance with legal
requiremenls regarding Security of data. The school pays an annual amount to the Infomiation Commissionerfs offi¢¢ to
register our processing and use of personal data in accordance M'ith the Data Proteclion Act.
