We continue to seek more opporthnities to raise our profile and there has been good loeal support during this year.
Structure and Governance
The Chai'ity is governed by t]ie Trust Deed (1998}.
The sknuctw'e of the Chai'ity coi)sists of a Board of Trustees. legally responsible foi. all aspects of the Charity'.% work and
foi. ensuring that the Charity's propety is safely maintained.

Principal Activitie5 of the Year
Number of dogs adinittcd was 33 and the sanctuary re-homed 32 dogs frum Novemb￿. 2022 to October 2023, a numbei. of
whom went with other bl'eeds. I dog was retui.ned due to ill-health of il's owiitr bul was rehomed ill 2 weeks. Vetting
procedures ai"e extremely stringent and il is a Condition of re-homing that dogs whi¢l) pi'ove to be unwanted for whalevei.

The Sanchiary has continued to operate a one out, one in policy for all of thi5 yeai. and il has soinetimes only been a rnalter

to be rnade by the Police, RSPCA, Dog Wardens. Ownei's and TTaii1￿s. Priority is ￿lwaYS given to the dog in most need. A
numbcr of the.8b'ays taken in have pi'ovcd impossible to trac¢ to an original owner. The Charity shops continue to provide
a fociis of interest the wider coininunity plu5 we had a nuinbffl. of dogs that have been i'e homcd to thcii. custoiners. The
shops also pi'ovide a much nceded Encome to the woi'k of the Charity and although still slightly iEdue¢d continues to
ijnprove.

WE estimate that over the year volllnteeis would have provided approximately two thu'ds of our manpower. The Trustees

care and clccoiwnodation. A working gn'ollp has been set up to look into this situation going forward.

Fundraising
This has also been reduced this year a5 there has only been a few shows. However, these wcre very successfvl. This also
includes the many reqiiested talks. The two C'harity shops aiE the inaiii fociis of interest and the raising of funds. Our
fundraising VeTh￿re (>f the 50..50 club continues successfvlly raIS￿g £180 per Inonth. Our new .%¢heme of 'Give a car, is
slowly in¢i'ea5ing.

Stsnding orders ait still a mainstay of our income alongside the in¢oine fix>n] the Charity shops and the incoine from the

up by ahnost £15,000. Ihis was mosily as a iEsult of the Natioi)al Living Wage inci'easing by 9.7Yts in Api'il and witli a
furthei. inci'ease of 9.8D/o aT]nounced for April 2024 Trustees will need to find ways to either increase incoine or i'educe
expenditw't.
We continued to hold our Christmas Fayre at the begimiing of Decemb6r but our dog show planned for the beginning of
Septembei. had to be cancelled because of d heatwave.
We contiiiue to claitn back the VAT we pay because we art a i'egistered business and claimed over £4.500 in Gift Aid for
the yeai. ended 5 April 2023. This was up on the pi'evious yeai. which had been affected by the coronaviru5 pandeillic.
The 50..50 club oui- monthly lottery Continue5 to provide soine ilioome and at the end of the year produced ai'ound £180 per
month towai.ds tlie Sanetuary's fifftds.
Income from collection boxes and fundraising iiiere8sed very slightly to £5,500.
No capital expendi￿1? was incuired during th¢ year.
Tho chai'ity continues to opei'ate two bank accounts. The Barelays account continues lo be free but the HSBC a¢¢ount now
incw's Wsts, but this account is managed to keep these eosts to a ininimum.
