TRUSTEES' REPORT AND UNAUDITED ACCOUNTS FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 OCTOBER 2025

VINEYARD CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP OF SALISBURY

TRUSTEES' REPORT

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 OCTOBER 2025

The trustees present their report and accounts for the year ended 31 October 2025.

The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in the notes to the accounts and comply with the charity's Memorandum and Articles of Association, the Companies Act 2006 and "Accounting and Reporting by Charities" the Statement of Recommended Practice for charities applying FRS 102.

Structure, governance and management

The Salisbury Vineyard Church is a company limited by guarantee and registered under the Companies Act (registration number 3655580). It is a registered charity (number 1072436).

The trustees, who are also the directors for the purpose of company law, and who served during the year were:

Mrs Katie Bastick Mrs Jacqueline Broughton Mr Barry Dunn Mr Edmund Evans

Appointment of Trustees

New trustees are appointed when appropriate. Suitable candidates, who are generally selected from within the membership of Salisbury Vineyard, are considered on the basis of their skills, experience and sympathy with the aims of Salisbury Vineyard. New trustees have the opportunity of reviewing appropriate documents, including accounts, as part of the induction process.

Volunteers

The church relies heavily on a 'volunteer workforce', whether by fulfilling roles and responsibilities to facilitate church activities or in the range of support and services offered to the local community. The value of these volunteers is impossible to quantify and cannot be accurately reflected in these accounts. The trustees would like to record their acknowledgement of, and gratitude for, the time given by so many who make the church and its programs such a success.

VINEYARD CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP OF SALISBURY

TRUSTEES' REPORT

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 OCTOBER 2025

Objectives and activities

The objectives of the company are set out in its Memorandum of Association and may be summarised as follows:

  1. The furtherance of religious or secular public education.

  2. The advancement of the Christian faith including missionary activities in the United Kingdom and overseas and also including, but not limited to, the planting of new churches and organisations of congregations.

  3. The relief of the poor and needy.

  4. The relief of the sick and elderly.

  5. Such other charitable objects and for the benefit of such other charitable bodies and institutions as the Committee shall in their absolute discretion see fit.

These remain unchanged from year to year, but the strategy and means for achieving these objectives does change as the church develops.

Review of operations

Salisbury Vineyard continues to fulfil its objectives as outlined below.

Throughout this financial year, the Senior Leaders, Edmund (Ed) and Clare Evans, were responsible for the vision, direction and overall ministry of the church.

Achievements of 2024/25

Our main challenge this year was navigating an increasingly tricky relationship with the venue for our Sunday gatherings (where we had been for 13 years). After pressure from them to be willing to relocate our meetings more often so that the venue could be used for other bookings, we felt it was time to look for a different venue. We are pleased to say that we have successfully navigated this transition, and that Chafyn Grove School will be our Sunday venue for the foreseeable future.

With this complication in the background, church life continued. Our weekly bible studies have been well attended and we have worked to embrace different cultures represented in the congregation in our expression of worship. One of the highlights of the year was a church weekend away on Dartmoor. For some families, this was the first holiday they had ever had away from home. It was a good time of strengthening the sense of community in the church.

VINEYARD CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP OF SALISBURY

TRUSTEES' REPORT

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 OCTOBER 2025

Achievements of 2024/25 (continued)

Once again, we sent a good number of our teenagers to the summer festival at the Stafford showground - Dreaming the Impossible (DTI). A smaller number also attended a Youth Worship School. Members of the church helped as volunteers at both events and also at Cause to Live For (a conference for young adults).

We continue serve our local community. Our care home team leads bi-monthly acts of worship in one of the local residential homes. These gatherings are well attended and are enjoyed by residents and staff. We also joined with three other churches to lead an Easter Day celebration at sunrise on the site of the original cathedral at Old Sarum. Teams from the church have been involved in monthly street outreach and in weekly outreach to students at Wiltshire College. Members of the church are involved in the work of Better Futures for Gamblers and we were pleased to support the work of Love After Marriage (Nothing Hidden Ministries, UK), and Christian Concern. Our Immanuel Prayer team continues to help people both within the church community and others outside it, and we will continue to support the local Community Pantry.

Ed & Clare Evans provide oversight to other Vineyard Churches and leaders on the South Coast and are available as chaplains to Wiltshire Council staff.

We continue to support the work of RUSH in Kenya. We were pleased to host Andrew & Lucy Amukowa, the Directors of this ministry, for a week in Salisbury. During this time we were briefed about the impact of our support and of the ongoing challenges faced by the ministry.

Plans for 2025/26

The Senior Leaders (Ed and Clare Evans) and the Leadership Team will set the direction of the church. Ed & Clare continue to work on their own professional development.

Pastoral care is largely undertaken by lay members of the church. Ed and Clare provide ongoing training and support for these leaders. They will continue to recruit new leaders and train those that are already in place.

We are pleased to say that we have committed to taking a team to Kakamega, Kenya in June 2026. The decision was made after Ed Evans conducted a brief visit and audit of RUSH activities in November 2025. In June 2026, the team will be involved in various outreach activities to support the work of RUSH. No doubt those on the team will gain as much if not more than those we serve.

VINEYARD CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP OF SALISBURY

TRUSTEES' REPORT

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 OCTOBER 2025

The trustees decided that, based on the success of the church weekend away in 2025, we will offer the opportunity again in 2026. Other internal goals include more training for prayer teams, growth of our worship teams to reflect the cultural diversity within the church, and the growth of our children’s ministry. We will also continue to encourage members of the church to be involved in one another’s spiritual growth by committing to meeting together in smaller groups.

In terms of outward focus, over the coming year, evangelism will be an increasing emphasis for us. We will look for ways to activate church members in sharing their faith and in helping others on their own faith journeys. This will involve some training, but also the creation of opportunities to meet and connect with those who are spiritually searching.

We are committed to working with other local agencies and churches for the benefit of the poor and the wider community of Salisbury – in particular Alabare and the Community Pantry. We also remain committed to supporting RUSH, Nothing Hidden Ministries and Better Futures for Gamblers.

Internal controls

As part of their ongoing responsibilities the Trustees have assessed the major risks affecting the charity and are continuing to implement and review policies to mitigate those risks.

Financial review and reserves

During the year income increased by £19,457 to £213,134 and expenditure increased by £11,301 to £209,030 resulting in a surplus of £4,104. Total unrestricted funds at 31 October 2025 were £76,434 (2023: £72,330).

The trustees continue to monitor funds to ensure at least a three month operating reserve is maintained. We are also saving money towards another pastoral staff member at some point.

Trustees responsibilities

The trustees (who are also directors of the charitable company for the purposes of company law) are responsible for preparing the Trustees' Report (incorporating the directors’ report) and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards, including Financial Reporting Standard 102: The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
