## **Tipton St John Community Hall**

## **Treasurer’s Report for year ended 31[st] March 2022**

Similar to last year the Hall accounts reflect the way in which the country has been able to re-adjust its pattern of living as we continue to emerge from the Covid pandemic. The total rental income from our regular and other users has not yet recovered to its normal level but the last six months have been very encouraging. The trustees have decided to raise hire charges from 1[st] April 2022 after holding them constant for the past three years and an envelope collection has taken place in April. Our income was again augmented by support of £10,667 from the Government aid Covid programmes delivered through East Devon Council.

The overall financial result was a surplus of £15,116 for the year: individual items of expenditure varied due to circumstances but overall our routine expenditure fell, especially repairs/maintenance and cleaning supplies, and we were able to run some fund raising events again, notably the Winston Churchill evening and the Sunday evening quizzes. We were very grateful to be given a legacy of £5,000 from the will of Mrs Pat Cox which was used to install a new audio system and replace the last of the old windows in the main hall.

Overall the community hall’s finances are in a healthy state - the trustees have been able to designate the sum of £60k to be kept aside for when the hall floor project work can take place. The other bank balances are not restricted funds and are to be used at the discretion of the trustees. The stage floor has recently been refurbished and, in conjunction with TIPPS, payment has been made for all three sheds behind the hall to be replaced by self-assembly metal containers in August.

We would like to thank Allen Marks for once again examining these accounts.
