The charity is currently focused on its core initiative, the Vision Eye Hospital project, which provides free eye care and treatment to underprivileged communities in Mirpur, Kashmir (Pakistan). Given current financial constraints, the charity is not in a position to initiate or support new projects at this time. As such, the Vision Eye Hospital remains the trust's primary and ongoing responsibility, with resources dedicated to ensuring its continued operation and impact. The trustees have acknowledged the need to replace the Phaco machine, which is essential for performing eye surgeries. Following a report from our lead surgeon highlighting ongoing issues and multiple unsuccessful repairs, it has been agreed that the machine is no longer fit for use and must be replaced. To ensure value for money and quality, the trustees have requested three quotations to review before making a final decision on the purchase. In addition to the equipment concerns, further renovation work has been identified as necessary within the hospital. It was noted that the CCTV security system is now fully operational, enhancing on-site safety. However, the backup power system supporting critical medical equipment has been assessed and deemed no longer adequate. Plans are being made to replace this system to ensure continued reliability and patient safety.
