functioning of the cliarity. The trustees ensure that bi'st value is derived from the efforts of the volunteers.

Charitable activities
In the current eoonomic conditions and with th¢ risiiig L()st of liviiig, cost of living , fundraising has continued lo be
chall¢nging for many charilics of siinilar si£e and profile and relyirig 501ely on the efforts and support of our volunteers,
This inevitably lead io curtailnienl of some of the C.hariiy's reguldr fuiidraising activities.
Despite ihese challenges and greater need for support in (he lo¢al Communities and far afield, further doi)alions wer¢
received through on-line fund-raising appeals. In the wake of rising demand and number of homclcss and the needy
requiring sUPPOrt. members of Lions ("lub of C.ovenlry Godiva Luiiliiiued voluiileerin¥ ihroughout the year in serving
food for the homeless once a month in Coventry c.ity Ceiitre, including a special feed during the Diwali season. Support
from our Volunteers and help from the our well-wishers, comniunity, this valuable s¢rvice is continuing. Fund-raising
events like the C.harity'8 anniial (Jolt. tOLsmainenl. Diwali Celcbralions Night and th¢ Valentine's Night wntinued to turn
out 10 be successful events during the year.. Other events held in the year were the annual Charter Gala celebrations.

sectors of coinmunities INiih loually and abroad from the funds raised by the Club. Amongst others, some of the charities
and orgaiiisation5 that received support were Birniin¥ham Children's Hospilal, University H05Pit&l Coventry &
Warwickshire Kidney Cancer Unit, Circus Slarr, Kenya Villages Water Project, Parkinson5 Support, Sinakekele
L"hildr¢n's 0￿hanage, Shile a l.ight, The Ups 4nd Down Charity. BEHT Vedanta Trust , Deinentia Ilub Partnership,
Sevth Shukti ¥roup for Ihc elderly.. The Trust also provided sUPPLIrt in the year lo various projects undertaken by Lions
Districts wid Lions c.lubs Intemhtion?£ l Foiindation io provide eniergency aid aiid huinanilarian tL8SiStanGe ul times of
major disasters, inLluding l.ions Sighi Savers and North Sca Lions Appeal uiid other donations made in the year are
shown in the arcounls. It Is ai)licipat¢d Ihmt the Club will continue with ils fundraisin8 and s¢rvi¢e aLtivitlCs in the future
to enable the Charity to achieve its objectives.
The Trust was not 4bl¢ to organise ihe annual eye camp this year but this is now contiiiucd in the current year

Funds raised as general donations are utili5ed to make donations. However. where funds are raised for specific projects
or events, these are identified separdtely, (earniarked), and donated towards the relevant proj¢¢ts or events as required.
Reserves at the year end th¢refor¢ includ¢ funds that were raised as gcneral donatioiis that have not y¢1 been used to
make donations And funds that have been re¢¢ived but ean)iarked for use on specific prvjects or Events.
Where donations received for specific projects or events are sub5tllnlial but not yet spent at the year end, a relevant
provision been n)ade in creditors and accruals.
Over and alK)v¢ any funds held that have been eamiarked for specific projects and events it is the policy of the charity lo
maintain some unr¢stri¢ted reservcs not committed or invesled in tangible assets. (Ihe free reserves of the charity), at R
prudent level of £3,000 or more. This is in order lo ensure that seed funding is available for new projects to be started
when necessary. This target level has been achieved this year.
