Report of the Trustees

General

The work of the Hostel Trust continues to benefit the homeless and disadvantaged. We have four terraced houses capable of housing between 12 and 14 people. We enjoy a close relationship with the Richmond Fellowship, a registered charitable organization involved with homelessness, mental health, drug and alcohol counselling, who have wide experience in this area of work. We are pleased to continue our association with them.

Our partnership arrangement allows the Richmond Fellowship to nominate suitable homeless people, with specific problems, for three of the above houses. One of these is being used, for a trial period, helping homeless people, with very specific long-term problems. with support from St. Andrew’s Hospital. We contribute to the funding of a project worker, who commits part of his/her time to the residents of these houses. The project worker attends, and reports, to our Trustee meetings. The fourth house continues to be supervised solely by the Hostel Trust. The three houses will continue to be used for ‘move-on’ or second stage accommodation.

Our thanks, once again, are due to the churches, individuals and groups who have supported us during the year. In the absence of government or local authority grant aid, we still appreciate the financial support of the churches, other organizations and individuals who befriend us. We also ask that you remember the work of the Hostel, and all those who give their time to its service, in your prayers.

Trustees

We were pleased to appoint four new trustees to our Board during the year.

Accommodation

Maintenance and improvements to our properties are ongoing. Over the past 21 years, in addition to day-to-day maintenance, we have spent over £80,000 on Capital Improvements for the benefit and comfort of our residents.

Residency Statistics

We are pleased to report that during the past 12 months the hostel once again provided over 3500 “bed nights” of accommodation to homeless people, most of whom suffered some form of disability or addiction problem.

Independent Examiner’s Report

to the Trustees of EAST PARK HOSTEL FOR THE HOMELESS.

Report to the trustees of East Park Hostel for the Homeless (Charity

number: 1070996)

I report on the accounts of the charity for the year ended 31st March 2025.

Respective responsibilities of trustees and independent examiner

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to: examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011 follow the procedures laid down in the Charity Commission’s Directions given under section 145(5)(b) of the Act

state whether particular matters have come to my attention

Basis of independent examiner’s report

My examination was carried out in accordance with the Charity Commission’s Directions for Independent Examiners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the trustees where necessary.

Given that the charity’s income has only just exceeded the £25,000 threshold, the scope of the examination was appropriate to the size and nature of the charity.

Independent examiner’s statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention: which gives me reasonable cause to believe that, in any material respect, the requirements:

to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act 2011; and

to prepare accounts which accord with those accounting records and comply with the applicable accounting requirements

have not been met; or

to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

Signed,

Allie Smith FCCA 33 St. Crispin Road, Earls Barton, Northants. NN6 0PG 19th January, 2026
