PRINCIPAL OBJECTIVES . Th8 governlng Inslrum8nl ol th6 Trust Is a Trust Deed executed on the 14th July
1998. The objecllves of th& Trust are lo promote and Improve the ma18rial, mental and spbrflual welfare of
persons wilhln tha Unlled Kingdom of England, Scotland and Wales including Ihe Isle of Man and the Channel
Islands whose moblllty has been Impalred by accldent or illness. Details of thè Trust are set out hereunder..
POLICIES ADOPTED BY THE TRUST We are nol a grant glvlng charity bul provld9 as51slance to
beneficlarles by supplying mobility equlpment that has been assessed by Independent specialisls. That may
Include an Independent Physiolherapisl, Occupallonal Theraplsl or Speciallgl Englneer. Thls ensures that th6
equlpmenl provided best meels Ihe needs of the benellciary and Is based upon clinical neod. We work wilh
selecled suppliers across the country and recelve special & very genèrous dis¢ounls award9d lo us lo ensurg
W8 purchas8 8qulpmenl al the best p05sibl8 value to Oplimise our charitable funds. In addition lo the
ass85smenl and tha lundlng of thg equlpmenl we feel It Is essenllal that an efflclenl aller-sales servlc8 Ss
Included to mainlaln thè equiprn8nl. Thereforé Insurance cover & servlce cos16 are also provlded lor Ihe
mobllily equlpmenl.
The wheelchalrs that we provlde can vary In cost (rom £3.000 to £10.000. dcpending on the clinlcal need of
each p&rson, as prescrlbed in the healthcar& pro1855ional's a55essmenl report. The work involv8d with each
individual case can be lusl as time consumlng regardless of equipment cost. 11 Is vllal Ihal we consider the
lollowlng for each case:
Accèsslblllty: whether or not they need ramps, whether there Is suitable access Into and around Iholr homo;
any problems wlth narrow passages and turning polnls Into rooms and whether Iherg is sullable storage and
power for charging balleries.
Cllnlcal con31deratlons: does the appllcant have postural problems, skln trauma, complèx medical
Condillons? Do they have the cognillve 8bllily to operate the equipment - If unable lo operate such equipmenl
Independenlly they may be consldered for a duallaltendant controlled wheelchalr. We do not want lo deprive
anybody Ihe chance of moblllty bul our duly Is also lo the general publSc wh8n tho beneflclary15 operallng
equlpmenl out in Ihe public domaln. W8 ¢onsld8r our duly of care to be pararnounl In ev8ry aspecl of the
provislon of mobility equlpmenl.
REVIEW OF THE PERIOD: Thls year we havè conllnued lo malntaln and bulld on the number of appllcatlons
that have been processed through Ihe charlty and resulted In Commllled cases. The trust have continued lo
use our own funds to prime funding appea15 thus r8duclng the amount ol donallons recelved Inlo the trust.
As well 8$ providing assessment. fundralsing and provlslon of equlpmenl we have also provlded a high level of
support to appllcanls. Dlscussing routes lo access mobility equlpmenl, slgn posting 10 811emallve
servlceslcharllies and provldlng guldance lo meet access and storage requlremenls. We have extended our
neiwork of suppliers and seating professionals working wilh th? Charity across Ihe UK lo enable us lo provlde
furiher compelilivg price of equipment and maximise the use of charity funds. Somelhlng we are working to
¢onlinue over the coming year lo build on this further lo increase on the number of completed cases for the
corning year.
